Not liking the fact we'll be playing Argentina in March. Would have hoped we could have had the Guate and Nicaragua games instead just to see how we measure up against teams from the region before the Gold Cup. Now in facing Argentina we can lose and there is no pressure on Roca because of course it's Argentina and no one expects us to win.
We play Guatemala after Agrentina. Hooefully, we don't sit back and bunker. Play a little bit more direct, even if we lose. It will definitely help our players to get games against these guys
Well we did have Nicaragua in March but WC quals got in the way. Honestly the friendly seems out of the blue sounds more like a money grab like when we played Spain. Sadly as much as they would want these guys crumble when pressured especially with Roca and his 3 in the back.
I just want these guys to improve. You take out that 3 in the back, and games like these will help, seeing the difference in quality and how they need to grow
That's exactly what it is! That and a good throw away game for Roca who can only look good after the loss. Lose to Argentina and it's all 'oh yeah well we know they are on a different level but we did play well at times and that's promising'. Lose to Guate and/or Nicaragua on the other hand and that's where we really see what level the team is at. Don't get me wrong, any other time i'd be glad we had a match like this to look forward to, but right now, considerig the state of the team i would honestly have preferred a friendly against Belize instead of this.
This is a match they should try their best either way even if they lose. It's most likely going to be local players but they might have a chance getting some player(s) signed. I would go watch either way since it's Argentina that's playing too but I'm obviously going to be going with El Salvador win or lose.
Too early to say I would give mine out late February to see how most of the players are playing in the league before I start making line ups on here.
Or it could be worse, we see a repeat of beating Guatemala in the friendly despite looking piss poor like we did under Juan de Dios Castillo, which sent a false vibe.
And that's the problem. Get the win and everyone seems to think that's all that matters and quickly forget about the poor level of play. Lose and they have no result to hide behind.
Sadly this I see this happening. El nivel del futbolista salvadoreño subirá en enero y febrero. Todos querrán ser convocados para cambiar camiseta con Messi en marzo.— Carlos José Mendoza (@mendoza1075) January 22, 2015
Am I really? During the late 2014 games (as early as the Copa Centroamericana matches, up to the Nicaragua friendly in November), our senior squad's game-play has been absolutely awful. I can understand getting destroyed by Colombia and Ecuador, but when you're struggling against Belize and Nicaragua then that's a problem. It's even worse when Roca doesn't make any changes to the formation; no better example of the word 'insanity'. U-20 on the other hand, sure they played badly against Honduras and Haiti, but they improved dramatically in their last two games against Canada and Mexico (though, yes, they made fatal mistakes against Mexico). I think they were just trying to adjust during the first 2 games and then they finally adjusted in time for the Canada game. Predominantly our current U-20 players, with some U-20 players from 2013 and senior players; call it a preliminary 2016 Olympic squad if you like.
27/03/2015 @washington Dc: El Salvador - Argentina The 29 of march speculations are El Salvador is facing Guatemala. Not sure if it will be in Los Angeles or in Houston.
For these 2 friendlies I want Roca to call up what would be a preliminary U-23 (our best U-20 players of 2013 & 2015) and not the same squad as last year. We saw that last year's A-team was not good (except for a few players like AA) so we need a change in squad. If our new younger squad is playing badly under Roca, then we'll know for sure that Roca is definitely a problem.
basically 2 months away. Looks like all our players abroad are IF (except Ruso, Menjivar, and Punyed [i blame the league more than anything else]). Hoping that we can get a positive after a negative (Argentina will smash us)
It is unreal how absolutely unprofessional we are. Guatemala is already having microciclos. They are a leg up on us on the March friendlies. What are we doing???? The only time this team will be together is on March 16 (per la prensa grafica). How does FESFUT expect this team to compete?? Will the guys know each-other? Enough of this. Someone needs a stern but kicking, and frankly, that will be the senior national team. Before there was no chance at beating Argentina, not it is next to impossible.
Also does anyone here live in the Washington D.C. area? I am asking this because we were going to buy tickets a while ago, but the group we were going with said that one of them had a relative that lives in Washington D.C. that told them that tickets aren't even for sale yet there yet. They also told us that the tickets are going to be cheaper over there. Is any of this true?
This squad against Argetina This should be a good squad for a balance of defense and attack. Counter attacking style could work with this squad too. Bonilla and Santamaria working as counter attacking players. The only one lacking in defense ability will be alvarez but his offense can make up for it. J. Alas had the defensive ability if needed on the field. The whole midfield will be made up of players with creative ability setting up passes too. With two defensive mids that can easily switch to the offensive positions if needed. ------------------------N.Bonilla-------------------------- --------------------K.Santamaria----------------------- J.Alas---------D.Ceren--------R. Menjivar-------A. Alavrez Larin-------A. Mendoza------M. Molina-------I. Castro --------------------B. Villalobos-------------------------- Subs.: - R. Burgos - ST - A. Flores - RWM - G. Mayen - CM or CAM - O. Ceren - CM - P. Punyed - CM or LWB - X. Garcia - CB or RWB - H. Hernandez - GK Maybe D. Corea for LWM sub. but I haven't seen enough to say he should be on the team. 3 games, 1 goal.
