Finally, I was wondering where he was going to land....curious to see his level of play, after a decent stint at Portland, and then having to endure Chivas USA as a decently young player.....I actually thought NYCFC would pick him up at the dispersal draft, as he is a Brooklyn guy IIRC....
Montreal has only one (healthy) forward on roster, Jac Mac's backup, an academy product just underwent surgery today and will be out for 8 weeks. They have to make a move. On other news, they are apparently looking to trade Felipe for Oyongo and top allocation spot. This rumor makes a lot of sense, Felipe was a favorite of Marsh and Montreal needs a full back as much as a forward if not more.
0 goals and released by a team that is likely getting relegated from Serie A while your rival grabs a squad player from the current league leaders? Wouldn't be the best way to appease the fanbase.
The rival you're talking about will also be paying multiple millions to someone who only scored 1 goal in his last 42 EPL games. Montreal already has Piatti who has shown last year in his little time that he can create plenty of offense. The Ciman signing was more important than any forward they could get. They sucked last year with Marco Di Vaio. I don't think they necessarily need a DP forward right away. Just more depth would be enough for now.
Or, you know 110 total goals over the last 9 seasons prior to this season's mess and his INT record as well ...
Stop with your facts. I'm taking the same approach here as people are using towards Jozy. Obviously his failure in Italy means he is no longer talented.
Do you think they're going to try to re-sign any of the guys whose options were declined? (Such as Hendry Thomas?)
Rumor has been they will try and resign Thomas on less money due to his injury problems. I think it's all going to depend on if he accepts it at this point.
Well, if they add his injuries to Essien's, they'll get two non-playing tough-guy dmids eating away at the salary cap.
Phil Schoen ✔ @PhilSchoen Follow .@shoplifter110 Maybe the Crew angle, but no - according to BILD, Klose himself has said his agent is considering two offers from MLS. 10:34 AM - 21 Jan 2015
I'm just happy at this point that there is a rumor linking FCD with any kind of star. I am also really excited about players like Ulloa and Acosta getting a chance to play with a player like Essien. He may have been the best dmid in the world at one point. Imagine what those guys could learn from him!
Your hopes. They are crushed. Essien turns down Dallas FC’s offer while Milan considers Osvaldo http://t.co/U6zwx1yOhY— David Amoyal (@DavidAmoyal) January 21, 2015
Former Timber's CB Kah goes to Vancouver. You think Portland would re-sign him just so Vancouver couldn't have him... getting soft in their Cascadia passion.
That's a bullet dodged with Essien--he would've been hurt all the time. Not to mention the Clavijo-throwing-Clavijo-some-business angle of it would've made buying Essien's damaged goods a very unsavory proposition for an FCD otherwise on the upswing.
