It didn't sound so crazy when I typed it, I still believe they would quickly usher people out of the room and end the meeting if it went on like that for more than four minutes. The other speculation is on the extreme side, and I now have to reconsider my expectations. On the other hand, are you really saying that they would just sit there for a half hour while a testy crowd yelled "just answer the fudge-ing question?"
You know that sometimes when town hall meetings like this are held after a controversial action that they are expecting it to be contentious, right? NYRB held this knowing full well what was going to happen. They were likely giving the fans a chance to vent about their concerns. I really doubt their FO were crying themselves to sleep the night after.
Sure but as Bill noted they didn't have even halfway credible answers to obvious questions like "Why was Petke fired?"
No doubt, their handling of it was a problem. That doesn't mean they didn't expect the backlash and the outbursts.
I think the FO would sit there an take it, if they did open themselves up to it. TFC had one last year and took it by many accounts and here NY obviously did. I do not think, though, however, that they'd set this to be for 90 minutes. Maybe an hour tops. The good thing is - it doesn't matter. For the most part, we've got a helluva ownership group now and we're pretty damn pleased with the direction the club is heading on and off the pitch.
Probably because the appropriate answer " It's my fvcking club, not yours and I make the decisions" would probably inflame the situation. Venting is good...give them a chance to let it out and then move on..not like they are going to take the decision back.

Good Lord. Is there any less major a major announcement than one about the MLS All Star Game? It's embarrassing.
The schedule? "OMG, we're playing 34 matches this year!!!!!" Regardless, yes, it is very meaningless.

It's not Toronto hemmorrhaging money. If I recall, it is the Canadian teachers pension that is funding this and other MLSE adventures.
Petke sat both Cahill and Henry for coaching reasons during the season and still got NYRB where he did. That commands respect. That team could have hit huge icebergs over the last 2 years (it is NYRB afterall), but Petke steered them into the clear. He is a good coach. Marsch has a record of failure as a head coach and was an assistant with the National team, what fantastic coaching credentials. Ali Curtis is a nobody. If NYRB cared, they would hold a press conference to say that they have heard their fans and realize that they have made a huge mistake, announce the firing of Ali Curtis and with the next breathe, announce that they intend to rehire Petke if he will take them back. But they won't.

Oh, this is rich: TMZ is reporting that the vehicle her hubby was driving in the DUI in question was a U.S. Soccer team van.
I am so over Hope Solo. I'm embarrassed that my national team allegiances require me to cheer for such trash.
