i couldn't find the old MLS live thread, so please move this as needed. Anyone know when the MLS live app starts up for resubscribing? I haven't seen any emails yet... However, I just saw the new interface for the MLS Live app. Kind of hard to read, it seems to have a lot of glare in it. Kinda boring look, too.
We don't know yet. Remember that ESPN purchased the digital rights to the non national games with the expectation that they will be on ESPN3. There is some talk of an app being used for subscription for those that can't get ESPN3 but very little solid information has come out yet. I would pay attention to the TV thread as we track this info in there.
for the record, Chris Schlosser said this on reddit a few weeks ago, and Jonathan Tannenwald tweeted this around the same time: I have been told that MLS Live and ESPN’s digital offering of MLS games will live peacefully together, but the exact arrangement is TBD yet— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) December 29, 2014 and those are the only updates so far that I know of.
2 questions: are u saying that the MLS live app won't be showing all the recorded games anymore? Or it just won't have live ESPN games, but they'll still be viewable in the app on a delay? Secondly, uh what forum is the TV thread in?
We don't know the answers yet. Here is the tv thread http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/mls-2015-tv-thread-ratings-contracts-etc.2015230/
That thread is all about the schedule and what channels games are on, but it doesn't really have anything about MLS Live... But thanks anyway
Uh...that's because, as has already been said, we don't know anything about MLS Live for 2015 yet because the league hasn't said anything about it
Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know. I'm just going to start posting this when appropriate. Strangely, I get the feeling that with the way this off-season is going, it may be a lot.
That said, this separate question is an important one, and worth its own thread. Slightly changed title, but distinct here.
For example: if I have to change internet companies or television providers, then I want to know sooner than later. Or at least as soon as possible, so somebody bump this baby as soon as there's news!
As I said earlier, we have discussed everything we know about the digital distribution of games in 2015 in the TV thread, which is not much. We just don't know too much right now is the main issue so there is not much to discuss.
I just hope they don't automatically charge my credit card if the games are going to be on ESPN3. I don't want to pay $60 for something that I can get for free from another legitimate source. Of course, in true MLS fashion, they'll probably finally get MLS Live up to real time while ESPN3 will have that bizarre 90 second delay, and MLS will force you to make a difficult decision about whether to pay $60 to not be delayed by 90 seconds.
I read that DirecTV users now have access to ESPN3, so I think you've got nothing to worry about. Unless you have internet through DirecTV, then you have everything to worry about because DirecTV's internet blows.
Sometimes you have to watch games with the streaming service you have and not the streaming service you want. james
This doesn't say if WatchESPN is going to be a part of this, but if it is, it will be $20 for stand alone ESPN streaming. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...ing-through-dishs-sling-tv-no-cable-required/
I have Direct tv and have read that direct tv has signed the new ESPN contract that had ESPN3 in it. I dropped my Xfinity internet service and moved to Century link for ,65percent less but I still don't get ESPN3 yet and when I call customer service the direct tv reps keep telling me they have no information on. ESPN3 if or when it will be available. I'm getting very frustrated! NOTE: the only reason I kept Xfinity internet so long was to get ESPN3
The Directv press release says "early 2015" for the WATCH services, and "soon" for the DIRECTV Everywhere App and directv. com. So I'd suggest trying the latter two methods before the former.
I agree, I get frustrated with direct tv then I call them to ask again then they tell me the same thing. Gets old. But I called again after I posted this and they at least acknowledged that ESPN3 is coming soon and there will be a communication when this happens.
The new Sling internet TV service from Dish Network will include ESPN, ESPN2, and apparently ESPN3. It will be interesting to see if this gets you access to MLS games via ESPN3. They started rolling this service out last night to a few users. http://www.sling.com/ It is $20 a month, no contract, and no other cable or satellite subscription required.
