In the nice article in the Improper Bostonian was this quote from Bob Kraft “We were all pretty excited. We really wanted him, and the money wasn’t an issue for us,” Kraft says. “During the past couple of years, we had come close on a couple of occasions. And at least one of those players would’ve been, in terms of star power, as big as any player who played in our league, including David Beckham. And it just didn’t work out.” ================== I can only think maybe Ronaldihno?
None of those 3 would have pushed the national needle as he was indicating. I think only Ronaldihno could have come close to Beckham.

It was in the article in the Proper Bostonian about JJ in their latest cover story. It is a great article if you have not had a chance to read it yet http://www.improper.com/features/perfect-match/
I'll be away from the boards for a few days, so Merry Christmas to all who partake, and Happy New Year to all!
Not sure how many have Sirius - but channel 94 is an all soccer show with a good morning show: The Football Show from 7-9am and Counter Attack from 5-7pm. They also have a couple of others. They are replaying the top 11 matches of 2014 and just got into car to hear Keanes's goal in the final against NE - which was match #8. :-(
Bilello recently tweeted that this year's new secondary kits will not be white. Pretty interesting, I'm assuming we'll see red for the first time since 99?
I turned on 98.5 the sports hub over the weekend to hear some idiot hosts discussing the 90s show 90210. Did anyone else hear it? It lasted a solid 10 minutes. Less the garbage-tv-broadcast-streaming-through-your-radio, I think the revs have gotten an aggregate of 5 minutes of coverage from show hosts all year. One day on Felger & Mazz, they discussed the team briefly and that's it. Seriously, 90210 gets more coverage than the revs on their own "flagship" sports station. It's a microcosm of why the sports hub sucks. Someone reading this - can you please start a new local sports radio station that doesn't ignore the revs? Thank you.
Look, I'm just as frustrated but I think it's naive to think the Rev's will do better on these stations any time soon. These people know their market and they are sentient to the fact that many in their audience are haters of soccer. I believe they want to mention the Rev's a little more, but more importantly to them, they don't want to lose their ratings by "shoving the Rev's down the throat" of the haters. It's no different from other types of bigotry.... These days: "I have nothing against gays, I even know gays, but don't shove their lifestyle down my throat." For the 60's and 70's it replace "gays" with "blacks" and you get the same tired phrase. To these "Sports" outlets, they know their audience "isn't ready" for soccer yet. I am proud of Felger though.... he's beginning to rabble rouse and make these tools uncomfortable about their intolerance towards soccer. He sticks up for the Rev's and soccer.
WEEI used to mock bruins fans who called in. 98.5 saw the opportunity to talk hockey openly and respectfully and captured that marketshare. WEEI tried talking bruins but they have been killed in the ratings by the sports hub. While I'm not pretending revs fans come anywhere close to the number of B's fans in this region, I hope someone new disrupts 98.5 the same way they did to WEEI and shows soccer the respect it deserves. The occasional Felger rant is good and all but I want consistency and more than one guy to talk soccer.
A major roadblock is that they don't have anyone on either station that has any real clue about the game. There are far fewer old school haters nowadays on WEEI or 98.5, most have at the very least accepted that soccer has established a niche that they have to live with, but even the guys like Felger don't really have any substantive knowledge of the way the game works on or off the field. That would have to change for the game to be treated any differently on EEI or 98.5.
With "Black Monday" creating 4 NFL head coaching vacancies yesterday, I thought back to MLS Black Monday, and realized no head coaches were fired at the end of the season. The closest being Mark Watson in San Jose, let go with two games left in the season. PHI and TOR also replaced their coaches mid-year, and Dominic Kinnear opted out in Houston. This compared to last off-season, when about 7 new head coaches were introduced. Jay Heaps is now senior to 15 head coaches, with only 4 (Ben Olson, Bruce Arena, Sigi Schmid and Peter Vermes) being at their current post longer.
It's all about the numbers. I think a lot of Bruins fans listened to sports radio and when 98.5 came they all migrated over to Sports Hub. I don't think a lot of soccer fans listen to sports radio most listen to podcasts etc. And over the last few years Bruins talk has dropped a lot on 98.5(except playoff time).
551589997262802944 is not a valid tweet id Love his intensity, give or take the accuracy. Hopefully this rubs off. Hopefully the Revs qualify for Champions League next year and LA does not.
