While there are no dates set, the last rights (to NBC) were announced at the end of October so we may have another 10 months to wait.... SA www.soccertvblog.com
About time for the return of Oliver. I really need to know how BeIN, Boise State, the Big East Conference, Luxembourg bankers and his unsolicited visits to Miami will influence the eventual U.S award.
What was that whole conspiracy again? Boise State was going to join the Big East, at which point, the Sheik of Iran was going to buy up Big East TV rights to show on BeIN?
Well that was discussed for football purposes, and the Big East doesn't exist for football anymore. Big East schools that play football are now in the American Athletic (or neither for Syracuse and Pitssburgh who joined the ACC, West Virginia who joined the Big 12, and Rutgers who joined the Big Ten). The American Athletic schools are mostly in the south, with northeastern schools like Connecticut being the exception. It wouldn't make sense for BeIN to show college football unless they made an agreement to only show night games because no conference would want their football shown delayed because it conflicted with Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Well, we are trying to decipher the thoughts of a crazy man here, but if I recall..... Boise State and SDSU were joining the Big East. Ollie thought these two powerhouse, ratings grabbing sports programs would turn the Big East into some kind of monster football conference (forget about the defections of Pitt and Syracuse.) Ollie envisioned BeIN snapping up the Big East rights, and showing Big East sports in prime time, after all the soccer (including the EPL) had been shown during the day. Insta powerhouse sports network!!! I don't know what his solution was to Saturday football/football conflicts, but I'm sure it had something to do with selling the Big East rights to some other network. Oh, and Candy Reid(?) was going to be the sexually ambiguous studio host for BeIN, wearing a miniskirt while seated at a plexiglass table. Meanwhile, the Big East for all intents and purposes died, to be re-born as a non-football conference. My head hurts.
My head hurts after remembering the crap that Oliver came out with if he is back then be set for non stop BS.
Seriously I wish I had been here for that discussion. SDSU is the powerhouse that will drive a network great stuff. Kind of interesting that the premier league is going to Friday night football. I know both La Liga and Germany have been doing that but seems odd. It's hard for the away supporters so will be alienating your hard core match going supporters. Will alienate the lower divisions as well who already have televised games on Friday night. Now I know these are two groups who the premier league is happy to ignore but I don't really see the payoff, at least for the international audience (which is supposed to be the big cash cow) You end up in the middle of of work day over here, and early in the morning in Asia. I guess it opens up another televised time slot but from my very uniformed view doesn't Saturday night make more sense? (if the Police would allow it).
McMahon thinks it could be in 5 months http://www.forbes.com/sites/bobbymc...ets-ready-to-face-challenge-to-retain-rights/
Discovery Channel ? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ar...s-Discovery-Channel-beIN-Sports-interest.html Discovery, famous for their documentaries, look the more interested of the two potential new challengers. They own Eurosport so have an established platform on which to screen matches. Even one of the two mini 14-game packages might be seen as a way of establishing the Discovery-Eurosport partnership in the UK. Sports rights specialist Peter Hutton has been appointed Eurosport CEO to build content. As for beIN Sports, they have the financial muscle to outbid all rivals and it seems a matter of when, rather than if, they will enter England's domestic football market. Doha executives say they will give serious consideration as to whether now is the right time to move. The competition will delight the Premier League, who sell each of the seven packages to the highest bidder, and it might be that three different networks share content from 2016-17.
Anyone want to see a "90 in 30" at 2 PM ET Saturday of a 10 AM Liverpool v Aston Villa game that hasn't yet been seen in full and won't be seen in full until Tuesday? If so, beIN might be for you.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31331496 On Tuesday, it should become clear why Mendes is so optimistic about football's ability to extend its golden age, when the Premier League announces its latest bumper domestic TV deal. Experts predict a 45% increase on the current £3bn contract, with the cost totalling a remarkable £4.4bn for the three years from 2016 to 2019.

565196168591073281 is not a valid tweet id If that is true, the bottom EPL team will get more TV money than the top Bundesliga and French team (already happens) and more than the top Italian team (not sure when their deal is up). Only Real Madrid and Barcelona will get more.
