Kelly o'hara had no history of playing in the defense but that didn't stop USSoccer from giving her chance....

I'm ready to be called out on my stupidity for this, but something I just realized today is that the Brazil Women's National Team players wear the crest of the Brazil Men's National Team, complete with the five stars for the five Men's World Cup titles, even though the women's team doesn't have any World Cup titles of its own. So it seemed a little strange having it matched against the USWNT crest with its two stars for the two Women's World Cup titles.

Then again, maybe it was somewhat appropriate today, seeing as how we weren't too far off from a 5-2 scoreline in Brazil's favor.

That's because they wear the men's kits, including the same crest.

Nikki Marshall never had any experience playing defense, and she worked out.
Kadeisha Buchanan wasn't always a defender growing up.
Christie Rampone wasn't a defender until she was in her 20's.
Brandi Chastain was a forward before she became a defender.
And 3 of those 4 are white, oh my. This place is going to implode now.

I thought as much. Just seems a little unfair is all, wearing stars representing victories won by another team. For instance, the USMNT doesn't get to wear the two stars that the USWNT earned. I'm probably the only one on the planet who's the least bit bothered by it.

Over three hours after the game is over and still no "Official Fire Jill Ellis Thread"? I'm disappointed, BigSoccer.com. :D

So are the same people that complain that we don't have another "Shannon Boxx" at DM are also against the notion of experimenting with white players at that position? Because if you're making the claim that I'm wanting a black player at center back, then they are claiming they want another non-white player at DM. You can't have it both ways, without being a hypocrite.

Just for the record, if we have two center backs, I wouldn't mind seeing a fast black and white girl back there as a duo. The piano is played best when using both the black and white keys.

The idea that they could pick a defender after they coughed up a two goal lead...

It crossed my mind. It would ease some of the disappoint a bit, don't you think?

We need Press to play center forward in order to score goals. Put Heath and Rodriguez on the outside. LLoyd and Cheney in front of Brian.

I was just trying to be funny when I said about Sermanni getting fired for playing Sam Mewis in a loss compared to Jill playing her in a loss.

In all seriousness, I am glad Sam Mewis is getting playing time. I was at last year's College Cup when UCLA won it and I thought Samantha Mewis was the player of the tournament. The kid deserves to be called up to the senior USWNT.
I hope she doesn't get discouraged and continues to play well.

So we still have no defensive minded mid. Is the plan try and win games 4-3? Also Morgan come WC time will be CF. It is what it is...... Against Argentina, O'Hara can play CF, and I think come away with a hat-trick......

No, she didn't. I think the last time Marta played against the US was the quarterfinal.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was reminded of the Olympic semifinal. Marta, like Sinclair, should have been marked by default even before she got the chance to put in the first goal, but we continued to give her free reign until she had not only brought Brazil back into the match, but also knocked the U.S. out of it. You'd think we'd have learned our lesson from Sinclair. At least in that Canada match we had an answer for each of the three goals in the hat-trick we conceded.
