It looks amazing in person. Im extremely happy about the new scoreboard though!! Hint hint some Wave fans on here will know why! But it really does look great! This is not even the finished project with the field though. They are adding one more "BIG" touch to it.
Whoever, doesn't matter, I guess. I have given up trying to figure out the white/dark home/road convention in various sports. There doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule. (And I didn't know the Wave had gone all-black, but I had seen Syracuse had, else I'd have used the Wave as the example.) It would be epic if they did this and no one thought, "Hey, wait....will it be hard for people to see our players?"
Just went on the wave website. http://www.milwaukeewave.com I saw they have a ghostbusters theme that would be cool I wanna go to that ! Kenn......The Wave will sport black jerseys, black shorts and yellow socks. The jerseys and shorts have blue and white trimming on the sides and the jersey also sports a non-collared yellow trim. We will all find out how this looks on the webcast tomorrow evening. Black uniforms on a black turf......I guess we can only wait and see and hope.
Has there ever been a green jersey team play on green turf? I don't think it will be an issue, especially for home live crowd. The TV/streaming part might be an issue, especially if the numbers and names on back of jerseys are not bright.
Of course. But there are many shades of green and black is...black. I don't believe the players are going to disappear, but people in the upper bowl and watching on TV MAY have a bit of an issue. Socks will help, obviously.
Interesting article I found about the wave and masl http://m.westallisnow.com/topstories?cid=284832701
Here is a better picture of it, tweeted out by the Ambush's manager. Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler [\SPOILER]
Different, but I kinda like the league having a uniformed look. But for what it's worth, I hope it works for them. Sadly, gimmicks don't last forever in this sport.
Yeah, they could have gone a teensy bit more subtle with the logo . That much white on black turf looks weird. How the players and ball will look on it will be interesting. Regardless, a major improvement over some of the ratty looking rugs in many of the league arenas now.
Black and white... The first two colors that pop to mind when I think "Wave"... That said, I think it would have looked sweet in royal blue. Still nice to have a new rug, nonetheless. Here's an interesting article about the future of their arena: http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwau...-university-b99402480z1-284675441.html?ipad=y
BTW, the carpet looks amazing in person....and yes the players are easy to see lol. As someone who's only been a fan of the team for the better part of the last 5 years I have no love affair with the 'iconic' blue colors and absolutely love the new black/blue/yellow color scheme and it looks amazing in person. Kudos to the new crew....now please send the old carpet down to Chicago because that carpet looks terrible.
Love the new carpet and the years are by far my favorite love the color scheme they chose for the home uniforms. The article about the arena gives me some little/no hope they wont tear it dow. I just don't see where else in downtown area they can build a new arena for the bucks. If they tore it down what would that mean for the wave. Would they build the new arena they mentioned that would hold 6,000 to 8,000 before they demolish it or would we have to sit out a year or so for it to be built and who knows maybe we won't have UWM's approval to play in the arena.
I don't think it looked as black in person as it does in on-line photos. In person it almost looked like it went through the laundry a few times. Also, the actual paint job on the WA are pretty good, the V less so, end the E... well... Maybe in the next two weeks they can give the logo another coat of paint. Overall, though, it grew on me pretty quickly and I now really like it. I think the LA Raiders / LA Kings thuggish look had run its course, and last year's Wave uniforms made it look like the Wave was 15 years too late. However, I really like the addition of blue to the home kits (same side stripes as on the white away ones). Also, those neon yellow socks (that match the GK jersey) really makes the whole thing pop. Far better than last season, and overall very pleasing to the eye. Now although their "main" color is black, it really looks good.
On that same note, when they showed the pregame video and they have the uniforms glowing in the dark, that looked incredible! I was almost hoping they'd play the game with only black lights on in the stadium lol. In all seriousness though you could hear the kids around me gasping and telling their parents they wanted the glow in the dark uniforms.
On that note, I was very disappointed in the merchandise selection. Not a lot of variety, and the prices! $50 for a pair of black sweatpants with the Wave logo in white on one leg? I gasped at that.
