Jozy looks pretty isolated up top. He won a long ball to him, passed it off, then didn't make a run. Sunderland eventually got a corner that they did nothing with.
2nd time I saw Jozy lay off the ball on the right flank, then either stay stationary or move behind the ball.
I'm surprised he's winning a lot of the long balls pinged into him. Gomez had a chance to play Jozy after a corner earlier, and chose to shoot from distance. So far they are looking decent with the ball, albeit not threatening.
I tried to figure out what these were until I realized "goon runs" was a typo. I'm sure the phrase fits something that happens fairly often though.
Jozy should get some credit for the possession Sunderland has been able to get thanks to all the long balls he's winning, but he and they haven't done much once they get near the box. He hasn't been making runs or has been slow to react when those opportunities have presented themselves.
He's made a few. Larson missed him on a bad pass and the pass came too late on a separate occasion and Jozy was offside.
Jozy's made plenty of runs to me, especially after holding up the ball and actually getting folks into play. It's all futile though because there's not enough imagination from his mates once he slides past them. Most promising play thus far was a nutmeg of Toure by Altidore. Just slightly hit too hard.
Mixed game so far from Jozy... He's won quite a few headers which is good....BUT he's had a bit too many miss-control...4 according to whoscored.com Wished he had a bit more awareness when the ball is bouncing to him.. He seems to have trouble quickly calming down bouncy ball to his feet and move it on quick..That usually happen specially on throw-ins...He has issue judging the ball's bounce and who's closing him down.
Sunderland have no imagination in and around the penalty area. No killer pass. The midfield either passes back or laterally.
