OK so... I believe..... I believe that... I believe that we.... I believe that we will... I believe that we will ________?! A. Win B. Lose C. Lose Embarrassingly D. Tie thus lose E. All get free scarves
DCU has to win. Otherwise I might have to root for New England in the EC final. And that is too ghastly to contemplate.
Less than 20,000 seats yet 20,000 scarves. I know I'm somehow not going to get one and I'm already mad.
The scraggly beards the guys grew prior to the NYRB match were no more effective in bringing victory than those Duck Dynasty beards worn by the Washington Nationals. I say give the guys a shave and bring on the heifers!
We've got them right where we want them! PS. The away goals rule, as I said when it was unveiled, is a steaming pile of boiled penises. Pure virgin unadulterated pig vagina. Why on earth would you penalize the team with the better record? ******** MLS and ******** the europhiles to which it caters.
If I was a betting man I'd put our odds at no higher than 20% ... But in my gut I think it's somewhere closer to 33% ... Key for us is obviously getting the early 1st goal. If that happens it's not unrealistic to think that they buckle a little and let in at least one more ... From there it's all about game management for both coaches. Does Petke park the bus hoping for overtime? Does Ben push on and risk losing it all on a counter?
I think if (when) we get the second goal, WE bunker and play for the counter to get the third, because 1-extra time should benefit us with one fewer game in the previous two weeks, 2-Extra time on our turf benefits us, and 3-the previous two items put the pressure on RBNY, likely opening up their questionable backline further. With those ideas said, presuming Silva's availability, we start him with Espy and Rolfe on the left for as long as the two of them can stand it. If (when) we get the two goals, we drop into as defensive a posture as we can get, bring off Silva for EJ, and play the counter while they tire themselves further, hoping to get the third. If not, I like our odds better in extra time/PKs.
I actually know and work with a lot of good Leidos/SAIC people and even declined a few offers. I forgot some places even have pensions still. Leidos doesn't.
I was confident back in 2012 when the boys came back home down 3-1 to Houston. We all know what happened. This years version of DC is much better than that though. I think the boys pull it off in spectacular 4-0 fashion.
I think 2-0 is possible for us and then all bets are off in ET or PKs. We beat them 2-0 in late August at RFK so this isn't crazy talk. We just have to keep a clean sheet as 2-0 or (fingers crossed) 3-0 seems to be our only route to the semi finals. If we give up a goal I am not sure we have 4 goals in us (we did it twice this year, both at home to Dallas and Colorado).
Anyone remember Middlesbrough's run to the UEFA Cup finals maybe like 7/8 years ago? Amazing run, every leg it seemed they were down 2-0 or 3-0 away, maybe gave up one at home even, but always came back until they were destroyed in the final by I think Sevilla or Bilbao or someone.
