Ha ha....this made me LOL Memories of 1998 however still make me sad I'm convinced we wouldve beaten France in the final
Sure enough Sig starts and Milik takes to the bench. I don't think there's anything anyone can do to replace Sig as Frank's first choice striker. Milik has a superior strike rate, doesn't trip over the ball whenever he gets it, and has showed far more ability in his limited minutes than Sig has. And even if Sig was a half decent striker, Milik has done enough in the two starts he was given to stay in the lineup.
There are rumours about Rabiot coming to Ajax on a loan deal. Would be a great guy as CM to pair up with Klassen. Technically good and good on the ball and in dictating play considering his age. Maybe getting Singraven in the summer and pairing Sungraven-Klaasen upfront would be a solution for a couple of years. The DM Spot is still very empty though. Some from the youth has to step up massively or a there has to be a smart buy. Maybe try Propper as well and convert him to a DM of sorts. I don't think Serero or Duarte are defensively good enough to DM's. Also if Fisher does not come back with a bang, I think Ajax can get a couple of good loan deals. Maybe Munir from Barca or someone else. There are so many Great young guys not getting a game
I think it's better to invest time in our own talents like Andersen, Kischna and Fischer than to invest in loan players of the same age like Munir and Rabiot.
Riedewald is getting his second start in a week at the position and Bazoer started at DM in the midweek cup match. One of the two will be the next Ajax DM and there is no need to bring anyone in.
Klaassen with two and a half great passes there...could've been three had Son of Sightor not offside! Good results this week, even if Dordrecht & SV were weak opponents. Now lets bring on Barca
I left for the movies with my wife right when the Red card was shown. Agree that the play was quite poor and it goes to show that a mediocre team like Dordecht can press Ajax and bother them greatly. Right now the team is a one trick pony in terms of build up and if the central defenders are pressed hard Cillessen ends up kicking the ball out of the half all match long. This is not a recipe for success. el Ghazi was good, Klaassen wasted a perfectly good chance or two. Andersen looked good but I'm not sure he has the quickness to succeed at a high level.
Yes agreed. That goes to show just how low my expectations for this team has sunk. Almost zero European ambition, poor tactical execution etc.. so many to list. Haven't posted here very often because there hasn't been much good to say...
Good question. I know he's been in Amsterdam a number of times since retiring as a player. He was one of the great attacking midfielders in Ajax history. Of course this is this wonder goal that he scored in the Finnish league at the age of 38.
Presumably because he plays for Jong Ajax; the level above A1 (which I believe is the side that plays in the youth league)
Yeah I tought about that but for example Riedewald is in the team according to uefa.com and he plays with the full Ajax side so I dont know if that is the cause. http://es.uefa.com/uefayouthleague/...atch=2015064/prematch/player-lists/index.html Thanks for the reply!
Looking forward to tonights game. I hope it was just Veltman's sending off that threw the team off and explains for the bad performance last time. If we put enough pressure on Pique i'm sure he'll cough up turnovers here and there and make this an entertaining match. Hup Ajax Hup!
Veltman was sent off in last year's match, correct? Ajax won that game. Not sure what you are referring to here.
you're absolutely right. forget what I just said there. i'm confused - been watching a mix of recent and really old ajax games lately and got things mixed up. cheers
Ajax: Cillessen, Van Rhijn, Veltman, Moisander, Boilesen; Klaassen, Serero, Andersen; El Ghazi, Sigthórsson, Schöne. Wissels: Boer, Kishna, Riedewald, Milik, Denswil, Viergever, Zimling. FC Barcelona: Ter Stegen, Alves, Bartra, Mascherano, Jordi Alba; Xavi, Busquets, Rakitic; Suarez, Messi, Neymar Wissels: C. Bravo, Piqué, Pedro, Rafinha, Douglas, Adriano, Munir
Very interesting lineup. But I dont like to play without any real DM. Serero will play DM I guess, Klassen and Andersen AMF. The truth is that Ajax doesnt have any real DM, Zimling too clumsy, Riedewald too young, Viergever too slow. Lets hope we can win today against all odds. Cheers!
We're also playing without any real striker, disappointing. I had hope Milik would be given a chance.
Really taking it to Barcelona today. They should be low on confidence after losing to Real Madrid, take advantage of it!
