I want Parkhurst, JJ and Agudelo. Right now, the Revs might be looking very good for Juan since his latest trial just ended with no offer. I don't think for a minute the Revs would spend the money but I wish.

Had Parky come back here, most likely Soares would find the bench, not Barnes of Alston

I don't think playing in Ohio (where that team is actually pretty good, if you haven't noticed) matters. It's not playing on turf.

We can't afford to add Parkhurst and Agudelo to the current roster.

My impression was that that was just an excuse to avoid the clusterFFFF that was the Revs organization. Now that it appears the organization has turned itself around, I wonder if Parkhurst has any regrets. I'm sure that all things being equal he'd rather live in Rhode Island or Boston than Columbus, but the Crew do have a good team as well.

The real answer is KSG "won't add Parkhurst/Agudelo because they have a set budget number for the team except in exceptional circumstances (Jones)."

Multiple teams have multiple million-dollar+ players, not just one (NYRB, Seattle, LAG, Toronto, soon NYCFC). There would definitely be some kind of salary cap loophole to add the $900k - $1.2 million needed to sign them both along with Jones.

I think if Juan does come back to MLS, we trade his rights to NYCFC or Orlando for their 1st round SuperDraft pick plus allocation money. Not what I want to happen, just what I think will happen.

No, the real answer is that we aren't $700k under the salary cap. We simply can't add Agudelo and Parkurst to the roster without reducing our current budget. You could swap Castillion out for Agudelo but that would still probably require some allocation money to account for the difference between their salaries. I'm not sure where we'd find the money to pay Parkurst. I guess we could make some trades to clear cap and get allocation money in return. It's possible, but not very realistic.

I don't know about Agudelo at this point. The guy hasn't played in close to a year, which is a bad sign at his age, unless he came off an injury. IIRC, he was offered somewhere in the just-below-DP-range, like $300-$350,000 last year, but turned it down. He tweeted something that cryptically implied that the Revs had burned a bridge with him, but right now, and even early this spring, they were his best realistic option. Even if he does buy a beachfront condo in Cyprus.

No more draft picks. We need players that are ready now. Look what we got for Parkhurst...nothing

Doesnt seem the salary cap matters for some teams that had players like Donovan, Keane, Beckham and Gonzales all on the team at the same time. The Revs would never shell out that kind of money but increasingly, thats what it will take to win it all

We're mostly missing a forward, like Juan. We could live with the defense we have but Charlie and Mullins arent scorers and thats what we need. Lee can't carry the scoring load forever

He doesnt have a lot of options right now and he shouldnt feel bad, the Revs have pissed off lots of players over the years to the point that players dont want to come here. I blame Burns... or possibly George Bush :D

Sorry, but it comes across like you don't understand the league's salary structure at all. The Fact that Omar Gonzalez as a DP earns twice or three times as much as Jose Goncalves doesn't matter. Goncalves is or practically is a max salary player, making him no different than Gonzalez in terms of his hit against the salary cap. They both cost their teams $4ook, regardless of how much extra LA is paying Gonzalez.

Parkhurst had other options. If MLS wouldn't send him to a team that he wanted to play for, he would have stayed in Europe.

Jones could have done the same, but because of his age, he would have had a tough time matching the MLS offer.
It's not a matter of one or the other - there are salary considerations.

Gonzalez didn't get DP money until Beckham was gone. He wasn't cheap, but he also wasn't maxed out on the cap.

I'd still rather see Agudelo back, rather than Castillon in. Of course, Agudelo is proving to have a bit less than desired up top, so maybe he would have an issue recognizing that he's behind a few guys in importance.

Nobody for Charlie Davies? Decent hold up play (minus the killer pass) and a mild output with many off frame shots that should have been converted or at least forced a save of the week. The formation does him no favors but I can remember wishing he had more trust in his power than in his placement because his attempts to slot inside the post are woeful.

Agree - his finishing in a rev uniform leaves a lot to be desired but he's been making a nuisance of himself which opens up space for Lee and others. Davies has had a role this year even if it doesn't show up on the scoresheet (and I'm probably bigger than anyone on this board about g/a determining forward value).

Not a LVP, somewhere in the middle IMO.
