^^Riedewald has been out of position numerous times in the 1st half.

^Yeah true. Isn't it crazy though how that happens when you play an 18 year old out of position?

We still make bad teams look good and had to do too much last ditch defending. Play is still way too slow and had a lot of telegraphed passes. Andersen had a decent enough match as did van Rhijn.

Cillessen (6.5) - one really nice save but most of his work was kicking the ball out of danger
Boilesen (5.5) - some good plays on offense but totally not convincing on defense
Denswil (5.5) - really lazy pass back to Cillessen almost cost a goal; several times did not hustle back on defense
Veltman (6) - below his usual standard
van Rhijn (7) - good on defense and offense, maybe best player on the pitch
Riedewald (4) - bad give away on the goal and often out of position
Andersen (6) - good game today but still could make the pass quicker
Klaassen (5.5) - should have scored and had a lazy pass intercepted near the end of the game saw action at DM when Duarte came on for Riedewald which was intersting
Schöne (6) - mediocre first half and then came alive when he moved over to the right side; really doesn't like the left wing
Milik (6) - had he managed a couple of passes to van Rhijn he would have been rated higher cannot let a 3 on 1 opportunity go to waste
el Ghazi (5) - scored a goal but otherwise not very good
Duarte (5.5) - slightly above average in a brief appearance
Sigthorrsson (5) - was hoping he would stay on the bench but at least he didn't screw things up
Zimling (NR) - not on long enough

Cup match mid-week and I'm off to a concert right now!!!

It seems like Frank is taking the kitchen sink approach to the DM position. I like that approach a lot more than the usual pick a guy and stick with him even when it's clearly not working approach.

Except none of the candidates are very good. Interesting that Klaassen played DM for about 5 minutes until Zimling came on late. I wouldn't mind seeing more of him there as he has very good football sense and works hard.

Selection for today's cup match against SV Urk:

    Ricardo van Rhijn
    Joël Veltman
    Mike van der Hoorn
    Lerin Duarte
    Davy Klaassen
    Ricardo Kishna
    Arek Milik
    Lasse Schöne
    Anwar El Ghazi
    Stefano Denswil
    Nick Viergever
    Riechedly Bazoer
    Ruben Ligeon
    Richairo Zivkovic
    Diederik Boer
    Queensy Menig
    Norbert Alblas

According to FdB, Menig, Milik, and Kishna (if his knee is OK) will start up front. Bazoer might get a start as DM!

Very promising selection for the Cup game, It will be wonderful if Bazoer starts as DM and plays really good there! I dont know why but I dont like so much Riedewald and I think Bazoer has so much talent than him.
Lets see both are very young.
    Cheers!

Riedewald is a great talent but he isn't a DM but CB.

We make every opponent look good. A good last 15 minutes of the half probably have put this one away. More lazy play from Denswil. He's quickly playing himself away from Ajax.

I think Denswil needs to be sent out on loan to some small team with much less comfortable facilities. Maybe that will give him some motivation to up his game

I thought he did well. Held his position fine, decent passes, and no major slip ups. It was his senior debut.

Zizkovic's debut as well, IIRC, and he scored. It's ok to celebrate there, Richairo, it was your debut goal ;)

Gotta love amateur football. SV Urk's fans were a fun lot, continuously cheering their team throughout.

Even their stewards/security were facing the pitch the whole time, and not looking at the stands!

I had trouble staying awake during the second half. Very boring game. van der Hoorn and Bazoer were both decent on defense. Denswil did better in the second half. Zivkovic was very active up front and really goes after the ball. Menig had a couple of good crosses. Otherwise it was a snoozer.

So did I! But it was all ok, snoozefest and all, that we didn't concede and got the job done. That was the most important goal. Of course, we could debate till land's end about that sad state of tactical approach and that love for hoofball, but I think that should be reserved for a match against a much stronger opponent

Things are heating up a little at De Toekomst. two more youth trainers left.. one of them has been with Ajax for more than 20 years.

Is that still from the purge that started with the revolution, or is this a new development within the group of Jonk, Jongkind and Cruyff?

Do others also find this depressing?

De Boer left this afternoon after training hinted that Kolbeinn Sigthorsson again start as center forward. "It's a matter of time before Kolbeinn will reward themselves," said the coach about the attacker who is in a fierce battle with Arkadiusz Milik. "I watch Kolbeinn plays and Arek manifests. Arek is coming. But Kolbeinn is fitter than ever and combative. "
