Messi is on a completely other level but Vela's play style is very, very similar to his. Clinical in front of goal, opting for finesse or technical shots over power. Has great acceleration and uses it smartly. Holds the play with dribbling, creating space for the rest of his team. His vision is also up there with the best, a lot go the time he prefers to create over positioning for a shot.

I might get shit for this but Vela is every bit as good as Cuah but with pace. If he was as passionate I think he'd on another level.

I think he will based on Herrera´s comments. I have to think that Herrera has been told by Gio, Guardado, Jona and maybe Moreno that he is ready to go before making the call.

If he accepts it, I cant help but thinking that he will reject a call some time in the future. Because of this whole situation, the spotlight will be on him even more and he is not strong enough to deal with all the attention, which is just part of being a professional athelete.

That's the thing. If he shows now, who's to say he won't reject a call-up in the future? It's easy to make the trip to Holland now but what happens when he's called up for a partido molero in the US?

 

Call me a pessimist, but I don't think Vela will accept (if called up). He just doesn't seem interested in playing for la seleccion for whatever his reasons may be.

However, he needs to leave Real Sociedad in the near future if they don't get their act together. They have lost three top players in the last three years and have not brought in anyone. Can't see them above mid-table at the most for the next few seasons.
