Hello everyone. Quick question. If a player is not asked to participate in the Pool games at identification camp, does this mean that they are not considered on making the regional team? Thanks
It seems that the majority of the players who are asked to play in a "pool" match are asked to come back to the call backs.
ODP is not necessarily what it once used to be for *some* locations in the country. It just depends really on what your area has to offer really.
Hey @marineforce10 Yes, this is generally the case. But one thing to keep in mind. Its the players who make the ID camp that think their too good to further develop their technical skills, They think they have already put in the work that will take them to the level that they want to be. Encourage your son/daughter to continue to develop their balls skills, work their weak foot, and continue to pursue their dreams at playing soccer at the highest level. I would also suggest having your son or daughter master one trait ex: laser beam shot/ master distributor/ speed with the ball, etc. Also next time they are at ODP tryouts/ ID Camp, have them wear red on their socks or shorts. Hope this helps. Sincerely, Andy
I may be wrong, but I think the poster was giving pointer on how to get recognized at a hectic tryout process like ODP and having an eye-catching skill in your arsenal helps with that. Goes against what the program is all about, but sometimes you have to prepare for the particular exam in front of you.
Then out of kids who get picked for callback and show up, they pick out those for regionals. These Regional teams are going to IMG facility in FLA to play for which region wins Youth Soccer ODP Nationals, and be showcased for National Team and college coaches. Maybe even some foreign scouts. Just because a player doesn't make it one season doesn't mean they won't the next year. Staying involved and making new friends with kids who take this seriously is a large part of this entire programs value for.
