    What the what?!!!

Why can't these fools at MLS just put together a decent team to compete internationally and put themselves on the soccer world map through winning titles instead of acting like a Middle Eastern team and throwing money at washed up expensive players.

Sad part is there's a lot MLS fans that proclaim bringing in old stars such as Villa, Lampard, Kaká, etc. as growth.

I'm sure every player's dream is to play in the mls so they can hang with Beyonce.

The only thing they can't offer is decent football, but what's that matter right?

Don't bring up U-17 World Cup titles.
Starting a thread about beating Costa Rica's U-17 is fine though...
    Oh, also...

Some of the posters there have some consistent views though. I stopped bothering with the guys in the rivalry thread last week when I saw that nobody on their forum takes them seriously.

When did Everton become and elite club? Didn't he spend like 2 months there?

I don't know. His elite club thing is bullshit but it's a similar thing to Cuauthemoc Blanco. I think Blanco is superior in every way but Donovan did great in international football, pesele a quien le pese. The same parameters we can use for Blanco, they can use for Donovan. I think he has a point especially in terms of European players.

    That being said this post

WTF? What fanfare does he has in Mexico? So because people know him in Mexico and pay attention to him, that makes them fans? Did Republica Deportiva make some report about a Donovan fan in Mexico and now he is going with it like he does EVERY time?

Yeah, but none of us are claiming Blanco "waltzed" his way into elite European clubs...

IMO Cuauh was an underachiver, dude had tons of talent and basically did nothing with it club wise, love the dude but that's a fact.
Donovan on the other hand did as much as he could with what he had, dude got to try his luck at bayern and could not hang, tried with minnows everton and could not hang, tried with Bayer and did nothing.

I don't agree with your thing about Blanco but if you account for it and what Donovan did, then who cares if they did great at the NT. Blanco was one of the best ever with Mexico and Donovan was the best ever for the US, unquestionably. Especially when playing in 2 leagues which are 2nd tier in world football. Rather do that than do great with your club and do squat with the NT. Beats being a David Pizarro.

uhhh, so what exactly did ********van achieve for the Nads again?

P.S. always thought the wigger was more clutch and more talented for them but maybe I'm biased.

he took them to quarterfinals in 02. he saved them in 10 against algeria. I could go on. I'm not a donovan fan or apologist and I'm just talking about him on the nat'l team but he was their best player ever and he did it during their most successful run by far. I don't see how anyone can downplay what he did for them.

He's the all time top scorer in world cups for CONCACAF (5) and is the leading scorer for the US with 57 goals ( as opposed to Borgetti who is our top scorer with only 46). We may not like the guy but the argument "I don't like the guy so he's sucks AS a player" is BS. And some of the same arguments people use against him, can just apply to our guys like Blanco and Borgetti.
