With a WC qualifier vs. El Salvador coming up next Saturday, will Pope, Gaven and Walker get called up again? And if so, should we try to go with the same lineup we tried against Dallas- hopefully Magee will be ready to go by then-or look to the bench?
You figure Glen may be called up, Taylor, Ziadie, Guevara, maybe even Brenes or Bonseu. That's a thin line up. Wells Leitch-Arena-Parke-Stemmler Clark-Lisi-Magee-??? Wolyniec-Rey Any subs?
Can we call in Abby Wambach? We could say her name is Abner, and not request a separate locker room -- I mean, who would notice, including the guys in the locker room -- except that we suddenly have a tall, rugged player on the team?
Here is part of your answer.... http://metrostars.mlsnet.com/MLS/ne...ent_id=13056&vkey=news_met&fext=.jsp&team=met
Is it possible Stammler will get a chance to play finally?? I have only seen him play like 30 seconds all year and I know he got hurt early but he was out top pick this year so I hope he gets to play this week.
Well, here's my dream lineup: Wells Bonseu Arena Parke Leitch Clark Magee Brenes SGR Woly Taylor Not all that bad, really. Subs: Stammler and Regan. Did I forget anyone? According to the metrostars website, Magee serves his caution point suspension against New England--that's why he's in this lineup. If Clark or Bonseu pick up a yellow in this game, they're suspended along with Guevara and Magee for the NE game.
I thought the Guevara suspension is served during the KC match this Saturday. Suspensions for National Team matches & Club matches are seperate I thought. Why does he have to spend it against New England?
MLS changed the rules this year for suspensions. They're now served when the player is available for the team. Hence Amado serves his against N.E. since he'll be unavailable this weekend against K.C.
THAT REALLY STINKS! That is a crappy change in the rules. Full of it IMHO. It's not Amado's fault he got called up to the Honduran National Team for World Cup Qualifying. Not having him for the Revs match is a terrible job by MLS changing the rules. Well let's worry about the Wizards before worrying about the Revs.
It's a perfectly correct rule that just happens to go against us. Doesn't mean it's a wrong rule. So we allow a player to go nuts because he knows he's missing the next game anyway. Could you imagine if Franchino ever got a call up then? or Kovalenko? They'd have to call in a coroner. Has Bonseu been called up for Uganda? Walker, Pope, and Gaven were called up to the 23 man roster. I could see Walker being let go for Saturday when the roster drops down to 18 and then taken to Panama. But lets assume he's gone Lisi, Gilberto, Vaca - all injured and unavailable. Guevara 0 called up to Honduras Glen - T & T ? Bonseu - Uganda? Brenes - Costa Rica?
Whatever happened to the sharing deal with the Long Island RoughRiders? There was zero sharing and now their season has been over for a few weeks. I suppose MLS has some sort of emergency plan if a team is short on players.
Nothing against our Johnny -- glad he's getting the callups -- but if Bruce is basing decisions on a player's success with his club team, shoudn't Joe Cannon get the call? Callups have left us especially depleted, and Bruce might consider giving other goalies a look.
Damn..... I did hear that Kerry was going to be bringing down his cleats to help out in this key game. But then Dick Chaney said he didn't own a pair of cleats and that his whole soccer career in high school was nothing but a made up lie. The fact that Bruce Arena played with him on that team has been substantiated and confirmed by six former professional players. Although seventeen former Metrostars have written a book, "Unfit to Serve, Maybe OK To Dribble" that insists they saw him playing football not soccer. But then again, Zev Miller, a guest on Fox News said that when they said Football, they really meant Soccer and were just being Eurosnobs. President Bush has repeatedly called for the 4-4-2 committe to cease airing the ads claiming that all of Kerry's fouls were dives and that self inflicted PKs don't really count. President Bush said he mis-spoke. He meant to say that re-directed kicks don't count, not self inflicted penalty kicks. And due to the equal time ruling for political advertising, Raplh Nader would like to remind all players that heading the ball will no longer be allowed as it causes head trauma. Haliburton has agreed to provide treament for any injured players at a marginal to significant mark up. The GOP does acknowledge that they have totally messed up commuting in NYC and hope you forgive their moving the rest of their campaign over to the Big Socccer boards. The Bush twins embrace this change and have set up appearances at the next seven WUSA games. The fact that the Democrats claim that the WUSA no longer exits will not deter their efforts. And now here's Debbie with the traffic. Studsup out
Wells has played well when needed. When you include our international callups and suspensions we need help in the mid field.
