Of course. I dont seek to take anything away from Jozy by saying he had a bit of luck

Collects ball, turns nicely, shoots far post.

What was the lucky part? Lucky the keeper didn't stop it?

He's going to score more this season, too. The S'land midfield is not as garbage as last.

That was a nice goal. He's got to take more shots

1st half good (thanks to the goal) . 2nd half meh. His touch was abysmal again in the last 30 min of the 2nd half.

So his touch was off after hardly playing at all this season? You don't say.

His touch has been off for 2 seasons now. But I do love me some snark!

He had games where his touch was bad last season but it wasn't anywhere near the whole season. Just keep spouting your crap though.

From the hazy gif it didn't look lucky unless there was a deflection I didn't see and when you haven't netted like 5 or 6 months well you take it how you can get it. Ugly scrappy, deflected. You take it. If they credit it to you it's yours and you go back to work trying to get more in the league. Looked a good goal to me.

Good goal by jozy...Looked like a bit of a hell Mary/fade away shot from outside the box while falling down, but like the poster above me stated, as a striker, you take them however they come..lucky goal or wonder goal, they all equal 1 goal.

Now, on the other hand, with the exception of the goal, he didn't play well...I thought he got a bit lazy after the goal and wasn't making aggressive run in the box...Again, he kept on dragging his runs and spent way too much time outside the box.

I give Jozy credit for the goal and I'm very happy for him, but I would had rather see him play a match where he didn't score BUT looked very dangerous creating chances for himself and his teammates while managing to NOT get dispossessed so much...

For me, I'm looking for improvement in these areas...If he can improve there, the goals will eventually follow in bunches...If not, I fear we've just witnessed a goal that won't really lead to more in the future.

We basically watched the same Jozy who played poorly last Saturday but managed to find an opening for a shot and it went in...If he can do that every match and hit these fade away shots, great, I'll take 5-6 dispossession per game in exchange for a goal all day but something tells me we shouldn't count on that.

It has to do with the discussion because I was responding to Brock Hannsen's opinion that "given the right opportunity, I think he's a 10-15 goal scorer, easily."

Of course, almost any profession player who is cheap enough will have suitors. But what does it really say about the quality of that player.

Butland was unsighted and Huth gave him too much time to turn. Plus he was slightly lucky that his slip didnt affect his finish.

Its a good finish, I'm not taking anything away from him

We aren't talking about the quality of the player.

You asked if he had "serious suitors." And I would suggest it's pretty likely they did.

Altidore is floating around a lot. It's partly on him and also on Poyet since there really is no direction in possession or in attack for Sunderland. Since, Altidore really isn't a poacher his best bet for goals is to shoot often and plenty whenever he gets sight of a half decent chance.

Pretty nice goal. Made something from nothing, really, finishing a half-chance from the top of the 18.

"Had games" is being generous. He lost his spot to Wickham for good reason (lack of goals, bad touch, wasted chances etc..) during the most important stretch of last season... and it's not a coincidence he's behind him again to start the year. Get off your high horse buddy.

Hopefully this gives him some more confidence. Has to score in league play though.

That was quite an athletic finish. No luck.
