He was just subbed off. Shit performance from what I saw in the second half. Wasted every chance and didn't even put much pressure on the defense.
Is Mokhtar this bad? However Ryo is still on the pitch after 60+ minutes and he missed a clear chance. Easy match but he has tons of rust on him. Subbed now ...
EPL is notorious for ruining talents. They only know how to buy and even then the manage to be stupid (Carroll 40 millions pounds/euro's).
There have been matches were Okazaki didn't play well too last year, so what? I mean, let him play for some months before claiming that "he is much worse" at least.
The point is that he tried (failing) to dribble, even some side steps and all his "old" repertoire. And this is a good point. He has the will to try something while in his EPL days he didn't even try a thing passing safe back all the time. He has the skill but actually he has far more rustiness than anything on his shoulders. IF (a big if) he will be given the time and a good run to play we will see the good old Ryodinho. And really, any japanese footballer must stay away from England as much as possible. 4/4 cases are enough for me.
The problem is he has been "arsenalized": play it safe, passed around too much and do not dare to try something meaningful. Eventually he forget how to dribble past a player .As a winger, he needs to dribble past players and deliver good cross. He is not someone who can play accurate through ball. If he doesn't dribble, he can only pass it back and that is no good.
Don't think he's been Arsenalized or else (Cazorla, Oxlade Chamberlain or Sanchez don't seem to play a boring game aren't they), there just isn't the inner speed or the explosiveness to burst past someone else on 1vs1 anymore. If he doesn't get it back ...
He does look a lot less agile than his old days in Feynoord. Probably he is still finding his feet, find a play styles that suitable to his current ability. To be fair, his game rely too much on his speed. If he cannot get those speed back, he has to adapt his play style as well. I just hope he will have some play times to adapt. If he continue to perform like that, I am afraid his place is on the bench
for god's sake. What do you expect of this lad? Maybe I am one of those rare ones who always thought he was over-hyped. He has speed but that is that, 20 better guys or more (Japanese) than him on his position.
Not really, maybe right now. When he played in Feyenoord (and Bolton), he did things that extremely few japanese players would've been able to in his situation (as in: age, coming from no professional football). Either way, I'm going to keep track to see what he can do.
Oh dear....some of you really have a huge panic button....He will be fine, but he has to regain his play skills and that takes time
If Konami rated him 83/100 it means something nope? Jokes apart, he did the wrong choice exactly like Kagawa did but he's injury prone too and he's totally weak minded far more than Kagawa. It will be funny if his brother will reach senior team before him (ignoring that Zac call of course).
i watched his play from the last 2 games. It seems he is not that good at taking players on. He would be if he used his speed to his advantage but I havent seen him using his speed to get past any players so far. has he become slower or something, or is he just lacking confidence?
Earns a FK after a solo run and Twente scores. edit: then completely alone in the box, gets ignored by his team mate who tries to dribble everyone and then shoots horribly from out of the PA. Painful to watch =( edit2: main thing to fix is that he falls way too much.
