Continued from here. Final score 3-3. United came from 2-0 down to take a 3-2 lead only to see the Fire tie it up.
It was a fun game to watch, especially for the ability of Luis Silva to almost single-handed-ly drag our club to victory after that quick drop to 2-0 before halftime. His free kick was epic, especially for the team's execution to help make it happen. We can't get healthy all over soon enough though, pretty sure our entire 1st team would have had little problem overcoming the opposition last night to earn the full 3 points. It is nice though to earn a road point and season our depth at the same time right now.
As the weeks go by it's becoming clear to me that the partnership up top going into the playoffs has to be Silva/Espindola ... with Rolfe being back by then supporting from the left and hopefully Pontius from the right eventually pushing NDL to the bench. That is the ideal scenario which leaves a lot of firepower on the bench ... NDL if you need wheels and EJ if you need a target man.
Silva is a very creative play-maker. He makes his teammates around him better. With Pontius back at wing, they will be very dangerous.
I hope everyone is healthy and we're able to do that. Would be fantastic if Chris and Chris are both back AND fully game fit by the playoffs. That group would score some goals. Teams couldn't key on Fabi and the others would score or they don't key on him and he tears them apart.
The whole night was amateur hour. The refs were shit. The field was shit. The broadcast was shit. DC's lineup was shit. Chicago was, as usual, shit. Basically, shit.
You know you're having a good season when 3 goals and 1 point on the road feels kind of like a let down.
Yeah, I sort of sighed and thought that DC is well-and-truly out of the Shield race now. Then, I realized that disappointment was actually easier to handle in September than, say, June.
