Not a bad result, but we looked pretty bad the whole game. I think it's time to start Luis next match. I don't care who he replaces, but something needs to change in that backline. BOTH sides were dominated by James Bloody Milner. I hope we can play much better when we meet the other title contenders away from home.
Two points dropped. Disappointing, but a draw at the Etihad is okay. Obviously it would be Lampard scoring the equalizer, though. Someone should have warned the backline about his late runs into the box...
Before the match I would have been happy with a draw But once City got the red card, they were there for the taking. And, very typically of us, we got the goal, and then sat back and looked content. City got an equalizer, and for the remaining 10 or so minutes, it didn't even look like City were playing a man down because he had zero intensity in our play to get the ball back and win the game I gotta say I'm pretty disgusted with our attitude after conceding the equalizer, and I'd be lying if I said I'm not really disappointed we couldn't have taken all thee points
I wouldn't argue but, after having conceded that goal I think we just wanted off the pitch without a loss, PARTICULARLY after how poorly we played for most of the match. Let's be honest, would YOU guarantee one of our lads not choking up possession with our FB's pushing on for the winner? On THAT display? Just a bad day at the office for a lot of them.
We looked like shit going forward but defensively I thought we were solid all day Any time you go for goal you put yourself at risk of getting countered, but you gotta take that risk when you're playing against a 10 man title rival. I'm not necessarily saying we should have thrown everything forward. But it didn't even look like we were interested in attacking anymore. In the last minute I counted at least 5 back passes between Fabregas, Matic, and Azpilicueta when there were forward options available.
Let's all take solace in the fact that Man Utd gave up a 2 goal lead twice and lose to Leicester. It doesn't matter that they aren't direct rivals anymore - Man Utd misery is the perfect tonic for a bad result.
Because he is, and always has been and always will be - a professional, a legend and just....Super, Super Frankie Lampard!
Also has to be said James Milner was playing at a completely different level today MOTM for me some of his stats: 97% pass completion 104 touches 4 successful dribbles 6 tackles 1 assist He played RM, RB & LM
Also thought cesc had an off game. He doesn't have the stamina to play 3 games in 7 days. Also, remy has to be 2nd choice. But I think the change was made before the equalizer
Yep. Miscast for England when he's expected to take more of the creative burden, but he's generally solid and occasionally excellent for City, where he can obviously defer to Toure/Silva. He briefly played in CM a bit today as well, I think. After Sagna came on but before Kolarov was subbed.
Still speechless. Jose's fault for not trying to kill the game with 1-0 lead and a one-man advantage.
Shyiiiite why the hell did Lampard score an own goal? That sucker too honest. In life u gotta be crooked a little bit.
Lampard had a clear chance to knock down a couple of City fans off their seats and he chose to hurt his beloved Chelsea fans. I don't care what he did for Chelsea before he is a mother something right now.
I had a feeling he would score when I saw him coming on. I had to leave the house shortly after that. In the car, I asked my girlfriend to look up the score. "1-1..." I then followed the reply with, "Who scored?" Not because I wanted to know...but because I knew.
