http://www.empireofsoccer.com/report-aqueduct-through-28818/ I'm afraid this does not look good for us, if they get this approved you can forget about getting ours approved a stone throws away. I agree with previous posts Brooklyn baby!!!
The Cosmos and NYC sharing the same stadium ? http://www.empireofsoccer.com/pursue-shared-stadium-28833/
While it has a certain logic to it, like maximizing the usage dates of a stadium, the big problem is that these teams are in opposing leagues. His example of how the Giants and Jets share a stadium is apples compared to oranges. Giants and Jets are in the same happy, money printing, revenue sharing league. The Cosmos and MLS gave each other the finger and moved in different directions. Outside of both teams not having luck getting their dream home (and kicking a soccer ball for a living), there is very little in common with each other for them to strike a deal together. Just can't see this happening.
Seems like it would be a lot of work to have to cover 3/4s of the stadium in tarps for every Cosmos game.
Actually beggers can and often are choosers, even to their own detriment. You can bet both leagues will hold the hard line against each other. A joint stadium has as much chance of happening as Don Garber's hair spontaneously growing back.
Getting into Brooklyn anywhere would be amazing and would be great for the future of the Cosmos, let alone in Coney Island or anywhere by the water in Brooklyn. NYC is the toughest city in the US to get things done along with San Fran.
The comments section of the article is quite amusing; plenty of Cosmos fanboys getting all snooty about how they don't want to share a stadium with 'them'. They deserve their own place because, you know, they're the Cosmos. I wish them luck, they'll need plenty of it (along with a few other things).
They deserve their own place because they are willing to self-finance it, unlike the oil-rich billionaire prince who can pump a billion dollars into Man City but wants New York tax payers to give him $200M for his stadium.
Mng146, this IS the Cosmos forum and thread. It's the home of the fanboys. Your comments are considered trolling. If you want to talk like that, take it out of this forum. Consider this your warning.
are the Cosmos in trouble because of the low attendance - seeing from some of the articles on internet - could 2015 be the last season ?
I have been fearing this may be the case. I'm sure just about everything is well below expectations at this point and I do not see anything turning this around other than a stadium. It would not be a surprise if the Cosmos camp is basically in "Belmont or Bust" mode at this point in time.
I highly doubt 2015 would be the Cosmos last season. Would 2015 be the last season of Arab oil money support? Probably, if they can't get the stadium and turn things around. If the Arabs leave there will be someone else to take their place.
Unfortunately I think that someone else would ultimately be Traffic Sports USA, and we all know about their track record of operating clubs.
interesting I got banded from MLS _BS forum cause yes I am a proud "fanboy" of the NEW YORK COSMOS. NOW , INTERLOPER'S GET TO TALK BS, on our page??? Don't band anyone, I hate censorship
Ok, it is ban not band. If you are going to BAND me, I want to be a Dutch or Bavarian Polka band played over German Industrialist CyberGoths. That is all I ask.
First, how is my comment "BS"? I'm pretty sure even Strikers fans would support my statement that Traffic has a terrible track record and would be the most likely group to take over the Cosmos in the event that Sela leaves. Second, I am a Cosmos Supporter. Yes, I am a NYCFC supporter first because they are in the top-flight, but I would love to see the Cosmos have success and help develop NYC area players.
