You know who could have actually done that and didn't FS1. They have UCL rights and most of the transferred players are coming or going to cup teams. And no transfer coverage at all.
You must be having a laugh. FS1 barely has soccer anymore. If I remember correctly they showed a replay of Fresno State vs USC (won't catch ESPN that way). Their programming today was less than stellar as well.
FS1 has more soccer this year than last. They aired four first leg playoff games and five second legs and are doing six Euro qualifying matches. I pointed at Fox because they are the only American network that owns a European one and could use their broadcast where nbc couldn't.
Here's the only highlight of the entire day's coverage: Dildo In Reporter's Ear Improves Sky Sports Transfer Day Report https://vine.co/v/OBUDZrAjOnH
Sure they are airing Euro Qualifying matches - they have nothing else to air. They are airing REPLAYS of college football games in the morning.
What? Still complaining? They showed 2.5 hours of coverage and stayed on the air longer than scheduled because the Falcao signing was delayed. All day coverage is basically the equivalent of showing a radio show on TV. TV doesn't get any blander than that.
It may be twisted logic, but I suspect the folks at FOX feel that by airing SkySports programming, they would be helping promote the property of a rival network. Just as ESPN only has limited coverage of NHL after they lost the rights. I'm sure if ESPN/FOX somehow manage to win back the EPL rights, Sky Sports will return to the airwaves.
Good points. Also, even though Sky Sports News comes from a cousin network it could also be seen as a like-product to Fox Sports Live. A program they are desperate to get more established. Fox Sports is basically saying that they want all sports news attention on FS Live everyday. It's not working but they're going to stick to it.
While they don't own it, doesn't NBC have a deal with bt Sport? If so, couldn't they access their coverage?
NBC has a deal with the BBC that allows them to work with some BBC MOTD presenters (like Gary Lineker). I haven't heard of any deal with BT.
Maybe that was just a rumor. I heard it in the run-up to NBC's first season covering the Prem. They were supposed to use BT's cameras for the video for the BT matches. Did BBC have any coverage of Deadline Day that NBC could've used?
Wow, it's refreshing you dare speak the sacrilegious truth. We do live in a country where ten million people apparently do tune in to NFL Draft Day, so I suppose there is an audience.
I watch the NFL draft it is a totally different animal. A new player actually becomes a member of a team every ten minutes or so. The one transfer deadline i was able to watch the whole six hours of sky because I had a busted ankle and couldn't walk there were six signings in the six hours. And ten interviews with 'arry. That was at the peak of my infatuation with learning everything i could about how this sport worked and i felt that this hurt my interest in the sport.
Talk about boring. The NFL Draft. Teams have had months to study these players and take time still to pick. Deadline Day Coverage was AWESOME! Maybe if more Americans watched they would learn more about the sport instead of wearing a US jersey every four years for two weeks.
So 2 similar things, one is boring the other is awesome? hmmm... Both are like watching paint dry and not really worthy of TV. Especially this particular transfer window where almost nothing happened.
