Seems to be a bit of smoke on Falcao, but eh. What is he 28? I'd rather improve the whole for that money.
http://www.eyefootball.com/news/16974/Arsenal-tracking-FC-Twente-starlet-Luc-Castaignos.html Still remember Luc Castaignos? The Dutch Thierry Henry? Will be a perfect fit to our system. Think about it, there arent many better strikers than Giroud anyway (i counted 10), Ibrahomovic(33)/Falcao(28)/Van Persie(31)/Benzema(27)/Cavani(27)/Suarez(27)/Diego Costa(26)/Lewandowski(26)/Higuain(27). Many of those are aging. dont count Rooney, Messi and Thomas Mueller as they are more false 9s, not targetmen. Dont think Bony, Remy and Jackson Martinez are major upgrade to Giroud (Remy n Martinez are 28/29 anyway) So whats left? Needa gamble on younger talents and Castaignos is already a first team regular in Twente, a key figure in fact. Plenty of experience as well Another striker Wenger should've gone for is Lasogga, or maybe Destro but i havent seen enough of him
Nice to see Arseblog pretty much take my viewpoint on the checkbook being closed when it comes to forwards. AW likes Samchez like he likes Suarez--they are in the TH14 mold as forwards who can play across the front, attack FBs and CBs alike, interchange, drift wide, run after through balls, get behind defenders, as well as finish. Their game is predicated on movement, not being the target man, not posting up, not holding the ball. Movement, movement movement. Like the Invincibles did it. I think that's the plan. Once they learn to play off each other and find space, Theo, Sanchez and Ox are gonna be a deadly force, particularly if Ox finds his shooting boots. The prospect of these runners with speed latching on to passes by Ramsey, Özil and JFW is exciting. AW gotta learn how to rotate and not run players into the ground, though.
total good point i hope this forsythe guy is going to curtail wengers penchant for running guys into bolivian
Aguero is not a targetman is he? Always think he is like a Alexis Sanchez type anyway, options are limited. Either aging or not leaving their own club Realistic options like Remy, Bony and Destro arent upgrade. Shall we gamble on Castaignos?
£35 M for Martinez is a steep price. Not sure he is that much of an upgrade over OG. Not to mention, the third party/ ownership issue with the dude. Arsenal tend to stay away from these deals.
Wenger wearing his poker face today. I am convinced things are in the works.... “All [transfer negotiations] need to be as secret as possible,” he told media at London Colney ahead of Sunday’s trip to [and] Leicester. “I will actively be involved on deadline day. I will be on alert until the last minute. “Yes it is harder to buy top top players. The last few days are poker games. You have to call people’s bluff. I like to play poker games and I’m quite good at poker.” http://news.arseblog.com/2014/08/wenger-gets-his-p-p-poker-face-on/
It's more about clubs not owning their stadiums. Imagine how the premiership would look across Europe if Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and everyone but United didn't own their stadiums. The league would be in a similar situation.
I certainly expect some moves from Arsenal in the next 48 hours or whatever. I expect a CB signing and for Gnabry to go on loan. Not sure that I expect much more than that, though some reinforcement up front would be most welcome.
