Great. The president and board get what they really wanted. Hopefully they can get us something we really want now. Another option at striker.

70 million isn't a bad price if that is the case.

I wish him well at United, they have no CL either so not exactly our rivals.

Following season it will be different if they qualify but overall it looks like he is off so I wish him luck, money wise I think the fee is good for the club.

I echo the comments about a striker though, hopefully this kick starts a striker signing.

I like Di Maria. I don't want to be mean on him. But i don't think he shines in Manchester. He is gonna play as a WingBack or behind the strikers? I do not see him to play as CM there. They have Herrera and Carrick.
So either way, WB or AM he will not be excellent in those roles.

You think if theres a chance we buy a new striker the club can get Cristiano to take a 2-3 week break to get healthy?

We know he isn't at 100% but if he continues to play while still not being completely fit, it will hurt him in the long run. James can play in his spot and Carlo finds a temporary solution of what to do with him.

reported price is 60M euros - think that is a fair price where the buyer thinks they slightly overpaid and the seller thinks they slightly undersold.

Great player but the league does not favor his style of play, he'll struggle with the ball in the air, the physicality of the league and while its subjective I think the constant media attention took a toll on him but I think he'll find that being a huge expensive signing with massive wages puts him under an even less forgiving microscope. I wish him the best though.

Mata was the previous record signing and he is loved by the fans even if his performances so far are average at best.

Di Maria is even more hard-working and that tends to be enough to satisfy your average British fan.

Di maria going is big set back....spending 80 M on James and selling Dimaria is highs of stupidity

after Di maria going would mean that our squad this year is down graded as compared to last year and CR7 injury would made us a week team.....

still would not understand how we can rely on Benzema ....Carlos gone crazy

That's because i didn't really change my opinion, Di Maria has asked to leave because the bigger wage offers turned his head. This is what he said before he caught wind of how much money he could earn:

Suddenly he doesn't have any more years and he either has to sign a new one or he's leaving? Get out of here.

United fans are desperate for new signings. Angel will be loved like Mata.

I can't wait until the transfer is over though. I have a feeling he'll spill his side of the story midway through the season like Ozil did.

Marca saying 70 million, close to being done. I think they're getting this info from SkySports.

    Ozil is being loved too.
But it does not mean that he is doing great. He is not actually even as half good as when he was playing for us.

I see something similar would happen to Di Maria. Not because he is not physically strong, more because they don't have his best or even second best role in 3-4-1-2. Di Maria is neither a wingback nor #10.

what's with this insistence on this wingback talk. van Gaal's preferred formation is 4-3-3 or variants of it.

He is on record saying that he is playing 3-5-2 because United lack wingers and have too many 9s.

If we really wanted him we just wouldn't sell. Coentrao badly wanted out and we didn't sell because we didn't get a replacement.

We (president and board) want to sell. He wants to go now. Period.

Yeah watched Arsenal game today, Ozil was really bad. The same every time I watched them. I would disagree with your DiMaria prediction. I think he will do great in ManUtd if they buy him, he will fit nicely in BPL. Btw watched first half of ManUtd- Swansea game and they should try buy Khedira as well, their midfield is a joke.

That's a good fee. It's a good deal for the club money wise.

I'll hold back on the pitch side. Certainly if we get a striker in it would be a decent move.
