Donovan has had some great moments in Columbus with the Nats. I'm sure there are plenty of Crew fans that will be there that have fond memories of screeming their heads off cheering for Donovan.
It's good marketing - every team we visit should do it since they're lucky enough to get one of Donovan's last games.
Nice article about Berhalter meeting Arena as a coach for the first time - quotes from Arena and Jimenez and talk a bit about how Berhalter mentored Omar. http://www.thecrew.com/news/2014/08...alter-looking-forward-facing-arena-first-time
Crew reflects on Donovan's storied career There are a few videos on the Crew website too that are worth a look.
Pretty darn classy. Makes me wonder, when the day comes, do you think we'll do the same thing for Lenhardt?
I'm sure that the Galaxy front office and fanbase have the class to recognise the true greats and difference-makers in this league. So no.
Maybe the league will compile a highlight reel of Lenhart's red-card and douchebag moments. Of course, they will have to open the stadium earlier than normal so it finishes before the actual game starts...
You almost (almost) feel sorry for the guy, when you realize his biggest contribution in soccer, perhaps the only reason for him to become a professional player was to make Mike Magee a legend. He’s going to be the answer to a question one day as Galaxy trivia night.
After seeing how genuinely deflated it made the Surfs fans when Gordon said the Galaxy were "home" for him, I'd love us to sign Wondo and Lenhart and have them declare that they are finally at their dream club.
He must do it covertly though. Sign for Spurs in January. Declare that he is going to have one final shot at the big time. Turns up in LA in March. MLS moves the Smurfs to North Dakota in 2016. They immediately win an MLS Cup.
