Do you know if he played mid or defense?

In the article from Gladbach's website he's the first player listed after the keeper, so I would assume that means he played defense
    http://www.borussia.de/english/seas...=11281&cHash=d4eab476bec741bc26f6ef4ebc6fa16f

"Sommer – Johnson, Stranzl (62’ Schulz), Dominguez (46’ Jantschke), Wendt (75’ Daems) – Xhaka (62’ Dahoud), Nordtveit – Hahn (75’ Herrmann), Traoré (62’ Korb) – Raffael (79’ Younes), Hrgota (75’ Hazard)"

Correct. They list keeper then defense starting at right back, so he played bright back. Looks like they May have played a 4-4-2 double six midfield.

Fabian played as RB in the first half
after Korb came in (62.) he changed to left midfield
Favre: "He can do both. That's funny but that's how it is. And we have to use that. He's speedy, good with both feet and active."

Fabian was part of the excellent counterattack which brought the 1-3

[the team collected three header goals after corners! ... within ten minutes! ... from the same player!
favre and the players involved briskly assured that this will never happen again...]

I've to add that in pre-season Traoré in left midfield left an excellent impression
that's why I don't expect Fabian primarily as a starter there

    the aforementioned goal at 4:00

Damn they suck on corners. Guess what they'll be practicing this week. ;)

    Fast counters though. Damn fast.

Reading the first page of this thread was weird. 2004 seems like a long time ago, especially for German-Americans in the national team system.

I love the silly season! One can dream, right?? You never know. It's highly, highly, highly unlikely but it's not like M'gladbach hasn't struck up a rapport and done some recent business with Barca. See Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Let me get this straight --- get guy on a free, sell him and make a profit before his debut. Now that would be a mighty fine piece of business. I know Germans are smart........ but...... we can file this way as a good laugh.

I will lick my own paws here: I said 3 years ago FJ was our only field player that could play for ManU or any top 3 team and would eventually move up to one of them.

Barca? Would be the most awesome thing to happen to Yanks Abroad since yedlin didnt join Roma.

Get in line. ;) Many Sechzig fans knew that back in the day.

Frankly, I'd rather see him do well at BMG in the BL. Barca he'd be one of many. At BMG he has a better chance of developing.

One of many? he can play 4 positions. And might even replace Busquets, who I feel doesnt have the chops now that Xavi and Iniesta are verified geriatric patients.

It is Barca. They have depth in all positions.

He can play four positions, but none of them are the 6. How would he replace Busquets. Also, Busquets is an incredible player when he ignores the unfortunate urges he has to dive every time he touches the ball.

They do? That's news to me and everyone else!! Depth has been one of Barca's major issues especially at CB and central midfield. ;) :D

this is modern football. No one plays their regular position. It is considered parochial to play your own position. you need to play the guys next to you.

Dani Alves isn't the player he used to be on the right side for Barca. It looks like Barca isn't going to get Cuadrado so they're throwing a wide net. I for one hope they catch a FabJo!
