looks like that payer could be Sacha http://www.dispatch.com/content/blogs/covering-the-crew/2014/08/usmnt-follow.html
Big time in the sense of not even being a WC alternate? OK, Gregg ... whatevah. Although I do actually rate Sacha and I'd have brought him, but nobody has asked me to coach the Nats just yet (....yet...You hear the footsteps, Klinsi?). AMSTERDAM – A pair of Americans suited up for Europa League third qualifying round openers on Thursday, with Mikkel Diskerud and Rosenborg BK holding Turkish hosts Karabükspor to a 0-0 stalemate. The US midfielder, whose lone shot attempt was a long-range effort off the mark just past the hour mark, departed the proceedings with six minutes remaining... http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...its-post-rosenborg-draw-road-europa-league-qu
I went and found the tweet from Lalas. It was meaningless. Someone asked Lalas who the player might be and off the cuff he just guessed Mix. He was not intending the tweet to mean anything, he was just guessing. The reporter never should have mentioned it in the report especially when he already had sources telling him it was Sacha.
AMSTERDAM – Bob Bradley's Stabæk got well with a vengeance on Sunday evening, with Andrew Jacobson and Michael Stephens each working full midfield shifts in a 4-1 home demolition of Mikkel Diskerud's Rosenborg.... After Rosenborg had pulled one back, Diskerud was robbed on a chance to cut the away deficit to one. The US midfielder ran onto the end of a Mikael Dorsin cross at the back post in the 62nd minute, only to have Stabæk 'keeper Sayouba Mandé push his header just around the post.... For Rosenborg, the result gave them consecutive league defeats for the first time since April of last year and pushed them to 13 points off the top in fifth place. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...-bradley-welcomes-nycfcs-andrew-jacobson-fold
Only sad thing about this picture is that I still use the same weights. #tb pic.twitter.com/1DvgKatbms— Mix Diskerud (@MixDiskerud) August 4, 2014
According to Wahl, it's Mix who's supposed to be going to the Columbus Crew. The move supposedly hit a snag when Mix's dad/agent asked for more money. http://www.si.com/soccer/planet-fut...nes-chivas-usa-portland-all-star-julian-green • The Columbus-Mix Diskerud deal has had some twists and turns Columbus thought it had a handshake deal on terms with U.S. international Mix Diskerud, only for his father/agent, Paal, to demand more money at the last second, according to multiple sources. As of Wednesday, the MLS summer transfer deadline, the two sides were still trying to work out a deal but had yet to reach one. A similar situation happened in early 2013 when Diskerud nearly joined Portland, only for talks to break down late in the game. Diskerud’s contract with Rosenborg runs through the end of 2014. Columbus sits atop the MLS Allocation Order, which is used to distribute U.S. internationals that sign with the league (provided their cost doesn't meet the undisclosed MLS-determined threshold to skip the mechanism).
Does he want to be the next Eddie Gaven or something? Is anyone else concerned that he's this close to joining the Crew?
I don't get the question. Why would anyone be concerned? I think Mix would fit in nicely in MLS and at Columbus if he can get the $'s to the point where he likes them.
To be honest, I don't like the idea of more young US international attacking players coming back to MLS. We are not yet a league to nurtures and grows domestic attacking midfielders. While Mixx might be more of an 8, I would still prefer he go to a league that is better at bringing those attacking qualities to fruition, and improve tactical awareness in the attacking sense. Now, before people attack me, I love MLS and think the quality of the league is rapidly increasing. However, I believe we have not been successful in nurturing young attacking midfielders into international quality players.
Adam Jardy @AdamJardy I've heard that the window closes at 5 p.m. Eastern today, but haven't seen that confirmed.
I should have added, on the consistent basis. Also, I should say central attacking midfielders. Clint and LD of course are quality, but after them there are not any others that come to mind.
Dempsey spent 7 years in the EPL and Donovan is probably our best player ever. The question to me from a USMNT standpoint is what will Klinsmann think of this move? We have a lot of bright #10's right now in Rubin (Utrecht), Zelalem* (Arsenal) and at the #8 we obviously have Bradley (Toronto) and Hyndman (Fulham). Mix will probably be facing some pretty good competition come 2018.
Anyone under 30? Exceptions prove the point and guys like Zusi and Nagbe are clearly a tier or two below.
