If someone can tell me what Moffat does that allows him to get playing time, that would be great. I'm going to assume Luccin is terrible since we haven't seen much of him..but Moffat just looks a few steps slow this yr, winning balls, trapping or even the mid range pass. Turrible.
Luccin's injured all the time. If he was fit he'd be a starter. Presumably he'll retire after this season. I'm also not impressed by Moffat but it's not his ability that's keeping Luccin out of the team. I had high hopes for Raul Fernandez when he arrived but I've reached the unfortunate conclusion that he is shit.
He saved FCD's asses today. My God, this team is gonna be hurtin' if Hedges is out for any extended period. And well, Diaz wasn't exactly his usual stunning self this afternoon. If he had played up to his usual standard, that might've helped.
Saved a sure goal, gave up a one he should have come out for, and gave up rebounds he shouldn't have. Pretty much a wash for Fernandez today. Maybe the next few games should see some new blood just to see what we've got before the "do or die" part of the season. A draw at Vancouver isn't the worst result in the world. It leaves us about where we were: the middle of the table.
when was the one he gave up that he shouldve come out for? maybe i missed part of the game but i only saw him get scored on via a wide open 1v1 and then a pk.
Yeah I don't blame Raul for either goal, I thought he made a couple really nice saves. What this game did highlight is that the top 3 centerbacks on this team are average in speed, and when a team has speed in attackers, they are extremely vulnerable. The through balls in the first half were also results of them playing way to high of a line, and getting beat with a most basic of a pass. It was a good example/reminder that if John isn't going to be able to go this year, I would buy a CB that has wheels. Overall the team played ok, looked like the turf confused them on a few touches and passes, didn't think Tesho did much all game...was surprised Watson didn't get subbed in at some point.
yeah josh i actually remember thinking before the first van goal that we have 3 CB's for a 4-man backline, but three of them at once in a 3-man backline (or even a 5 like we tried) leaves the middle vulnerable to a speedy attacker to latch onto a decent pass. mattocks looked like he was in fast-forward compared to our guys. even so, was a pretty damn good ball for the first goal.
I don't know if he should have saved it. But he was lost in no-man's land between the net and the striker, making it that much easier.
on the last game of his suspension. Apparently Watson was out with family issues, Escobar took a knock in the friendly and Castillo was on the last game of his suspension. Knowing all that now not a bad lineup and plan. Might have gotten three points if the call on Hernandez had been a free kick and not a pk.
so youre talking about the 1v1? sheesh man thats pretty harsh on any gk. guessing youre a big seitz fan
