Yes, some of us are also committing to double our season ticket purchases next year if the team stays, in order to make it more attractive to potential buyers. I pledged to double my season tickets for next year (from two to four) and $1K to the investment fund. Send those pledges in to Don and the SSV guys.
Are you serious?!?! Where do you guys get this kind of money just laying around to be able to drop it like that?!?!? My lord...maybe it's just cuz Im a poor little college student or sumthin, but WOW! I Thank You from the bottom of my heart for being so generous for our Quakes...Quakes fans are the BEST!! I am ashamed to say though, I am way too poor to donate any money. I can barely pay for my season tickets.....I had to borrow money from people to put enough gas in my car to get to the rally on Friday...
I was thinking the same thing at the rally.... I'm in for a few thou..already sent you my contact info. thx Kevin
I'm from Mexico, but if this is serious, hey anything for the quakes!!! Count me in. It would help if you give me an e-mail adress or something, so I can keep in touch. But hell yeah, I'm in!!!! GO QUAKES!!! KEEP THE PRIDE!!!
Just wondering if there will be a table set up at this Saturday's game letting other Quakes fans who don't read these boards know about this idea--or something (anything!!!) along these lines about keeping the EQ in SJ?
See Don's e-mail address in the third posting of this thread. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3065383&postcount=3
I've been in communication with Don as well: pledged to keep my season ticket, add 1 more person to the season ticket, and also add $1000 to the investment. Let more and more pledges come in. Even if we could raise something of the order of $2 million, it could give us considerable traction. Fans alone cannot match the big number of $15 million, or $30 million. But any amount we raise makes it even more attractive for a potential investor to jump in.
I was thinking the same thing. We should spread the word to everyone in the stadium as I'm not sure how many of them are familiar with SSV's efforts. Let me know if you need volunteers to pass out flyers before the game....
Sorry, but this thread is a joke. If Anschutz with his proven expertise says its a dog...... Why do you guys want to get steamrolled with a significantly higher % of your net worth? Sometimes you just gotta listen to the smart guys, and get out of the way... BTW- I felt the same way as you guy when my beloved Rogues left town....I know the pain....just let it go...
It would be great if Don or anyone from SSV could display a running counter of pledges that have come in so far (either on this forum or the SSV website). PBS stations do something like this during their pledge drives. As more and more people sitting on the fence see pledges coming in, with the amount needed against a set target, it influences them to pledge their support. Another related question: How cooperative has the San Jose front office been in making the season ticket database accesible to SSV? Or is SSV only going by whoever has registered with them? The reason for asking is: if SSV could reach every season ticket holder to either add more season ticket holders and/or pledge some amount, it could broaden the target audience.
Cut SSV some slack. We're all working round the clock, ignoring our day jobs. Saving the Quakes is like the war on terrorism -- some of it will be visible, some of it won't for awhile. All I can say is everyone keep the faith. Since the rally things are looking better each day.
Actually, it's not a joke. You only know a small fraction of what is going on here. I'm planning on going to San Jose Earthquakes games in 2005 and for many many years to come. If I didn't believe that then I wouldn't be as involved as I am.
We're not there yet with the running counter although I anticipate we will be able to have this at some point. Remember, we haven't even formally announced the investor program because we're still working out the formal mechanism. Nonetheless, we already have over $600,000 in pledges to date. That should certainly be inspiration to others.
That is awesome after only a day or two. I have noticed many new posters to these forums. Fans out there are responding. Go Quakes!
Hah I was just reading Blue Wizard's message about not getting updates, when my Yahoo Messenger pops up: Mail From: SSV: Announcing the 2005 Season Ticket Drive
To that point, I'm new to the area and the Quakes' cause but I've sent in my season ticket pledge. Anything to keep 'em around. Hope it helps....
I think the running counter could be a big imputus to get fence sitters moving. Perhaps, in the meantime, a "poor mans counter" could be instigated by simply posting to a "Pledge Counter" thread each day both the season ticket count and the investor pledge amount.
I'm thinking the only obstacles to a pledge counter on the SSV Web site are the fact that the formal mechanism is not complete/chosen yet, a matter of time to set it up, and maybe the money for extra server space. I'm sure they know how to set one up.
Couch cushions.....$8.73(thanks dred!) Car ash tray.........$4.71 Pocket.................$ 14.50 + lint Cool.....i'm in....I know it's not much but it should be enough to get Jamil Walker's shoe lace.....from his non-shooting foot of course!
