What talent? of all those guys you mentioned the only one deserving of wearing the verdeamarelha was Kaka(and that means being capable of making a difference), and he hasnt been in shape for years.
    This is all they've got.

It's actually not a huge secret what Brasil needs to do. We need to stick some talented and technical young players deep in central midfield as volantes, rather than AMs, and say: "Your job is to create, not just make 5-yard side passes. But you can't just create for it's own sake, without any tactical awareness. Sometimes all that's required is a short simple side pass and nothing more. And you have to destroy the other side's plays as well. Cleanly."

This is easier said than done. Not everyone is suited to this role. And the volante armador doesn't really exist anymore in Brasileirão teams. Breaking the current mold of volantes de contenção will be difficult because putting the talent up front will almost always yield more immediate gains (even if they plateau sooner). Managers tend to be risk averse, especially when they're only a few bad results from being sacked.

That's why I think we'd benefit from a foreign manager with excellent credentials and a more defined style of play. It might help to show that there's another way.

Time to clone Didi, Gerson and Falcao. Shoot, even Alemao would do these days!

Send out the talent scouts - if they're not out all the time anyway - and look for the barefoot kid who can volley to himself while outdribbling 3 other kids backwards.
Find another kid who can backflip the ball into a basketball hoop.
Get the kid out of jail who was arrested for curving the ball around an intersection into some guys' convertible. On purpose.
Teach them the concept of teamwork and you'll soon get another one of those ugly things that look like something made of Fimo.

The 1982 team should have won the world cup even with their comedy centre forward serginho.. And it is quite possible that in 1986 brazil could have reached the final or won it..they were better than france and were just unlucky.. Obviously maradona deserved that cup but i think brazil were a better team than argentina overall..
Quite clearly in todays game you will never get another brazil 82 team but i do feel the modern brazil team needs to play in the same spirit as 82 and give brazil a team they can be proud of again..
The selection of luiz paulinho hulk fred and co was ridiculous.. Just becaue you play in top european leagues doesnt mean you automatically become an international player...
Marta would have been been better than fred ( i know he doesnt play in europe)

They still overproduce given the resources and what most people want to see (the fanbase propelling them).

No. As it stands now Danny Blind will be coaching Oranje in 2018.

Well there is not much to go on in terms of past achievements. His stint at Ajax was quite forgettable. So I'd say in general most people probably hope it will never happen.

How fitting, for eleven players to a side: 10-1 :whistling:

Quite a few posts here claim that Brazil were unlucky against France in 1986. Well, you obviously forgot about this shocking and cynical incident. For this rcene alone Brazil deserved to lose.

Even with Brazil two woeful performances at combined score of 10-1 they still finished top four in the world at the WC. A lot of people are kicking Brazil right now, laughing and rubbing these losses in but Brazil still made it to SF, still have 5 stars on that kit and still have a wealth if talent that will continued to be produced. I believe they will be on a mission in 2018 to restore glory and I expect the next squad will be much more talented and creative then this past one. However the reappointment of Dunga is really a step backwards and not good at all.
