Well said, though in 2010 it was clear he was at the end of his footballing career. He seemed to make more and tougher challenges to keep control of the midfield because he simply wasn't as fast anymore. (And oddly somehow he usually still managed not to get any cards)

Ik zeg; Ode aan de controleur

We missed him at euro2008. Because of troubles with national team manager Van Basten.

Epic was his live discussion on television with Johan Cruijff. Telling him some lessons about tactics and saying he was protecting his protege too much.

Van Bommel was more of an CM/AM earlier in his career, but became increasingly more conservative with his runs after roughly 2008. I think he was useful in 2010, but 2012 was his swansong. A lot of things went wrong within the squad; him being captain (the son in law of the manager) was one of those wrongs.

The Dutch defense has been decimated by injury. After todays display perhaps the 3rd place match would be safest for us.... NAW!

Who is kidding who here :)

Netherlands vs Argentina, I am pretty sure the gap between the 2 teams is very small.
I hope for a great performance of the two teams in our semi.
Of course the one who advances to the final will need a brilliant performance.

None of us would give the German side so much space, imho Germany is the title favorite though.

Check the dutch forum. They are scared as well. Watching this humiliation was humbling for everyone.

I'm scared, but not afraid. The Brazilians were a completely disorganized mess in both the defense and the midfield.

^^ If anyone remembers watching the second Liverpool vs. Arsenal match from this past EPL season... the way Brazil played the first 30 minutes, reminded me of the Gunners

Come on Argentina. Let's beat Netherlands and then Germany so we can make our Brazilian brothers feel better for their shamefull defeat. We are doing this for you Brazil!

Some of the great teams Argentina has had in the past i have really admired they were superb teams and a few more of them could have won a World Cup with a little more luck on their side.

IMHO i would have to agree with others though that this is probably the weakest Argentine team i have seen at a WC.

It is a rather strange request. It is as if France put a 7-1 beat down on Germany and then a German fan (who is a really a 13 year old kid in India) begged Dutch fans to avenge German pride by winning the Cup.

Is there any thing wrong with "we don't like them, and they don't like us"? A victory tomorrow will give me great satisfaction. I am a sure my new Argentine friends feel the same.
