Seriously, what's with MLS Live? I couldn't even see the goals because of the frame rate and the chugging.
I had that problem last week. I actually had to use Internet Explorer to get my video to run properly.
Mine worked pretty well. First half towards the end it was chuggy as hell but the second half went off without a hitch. Crew were robbed by piss-poor officiating tonight. That first goal isn't called back, I doubt Colorado score their first one. How Sanchez wasn't immediately sent off with a Red is beyond me. Finlay's kick to the nuts should have gotten that guy a Yellow at least. Hooray for ties?...
The one time Arrieta is actually onsides... New FIFA rule - if your AR is too lazy/slow to keep up with the play, he cannot call offsides from behind it.
Whoever produced that broadcast (Colorado's, for those of you who don't and won't have TWC) should be beaten with a nickel sack. Never, in my lengthy soccer-watching career, have I missed more live action in order to watch replays. Often repeated replays. That really, sucked. But I will say that when they took the lead, I was never very worried, because we had Bedell on the bench. So my only big questions, having worked most of the day, is what's wrong with Higs, and is Jimenez done for the year? It's a rosy outlook in either case. Especially in light of this big unbeaten streak we're riding.
I asked about Higs in the PBP thread and was told his Hammy still. As for Jimmy, I noticed him sitting on the ground on the sideline in a sub jersey, so I hope it wasn't as bad as it looked.
That doesn't sound entirely bleak. You know, I used to think it was a Laretowicz thing, but now I realize it's a Colorado thing. Speaking of which, I got a big kick out of, right after Moor tried to Zakiani Ethan and got his yellow, the way that their needlessly-British announcer said that it was the fall that hurt, much more than the foul itself. Shill much? Maybe it's just the beer talking, but I'm getting pretty tired of this shit.
Except they do all the time. I'll give the Ar the benefit of the doubt--*IF* they are in line with the play. But too many of them think they can call it on the angles based on their experience. They are often wrong. There's a similar problem in college football with pass interference/in bounds. Fortunately, replay helps with the latter. If it's used. But some refs simply cannot keep up with the speed of the game anymore in that area of the field. I'd like to see a program to get more ex-players into the refereeing ranks--ones who actually played the position they are reffing, who at least have the chance of having the speed needed to keep up with the game.
On the bright side, after halfway through the season we're tied with NYRB on points for the fifth place playoff spot (they hold the tiebreaker for most goals scored). If we can pick up a striker in the transfer window, get Higs back at full strength, and get our guys from the Costa Rican team after they win the cup, we've got a decent shot at playoffs. Or...we sell Gonzalez, don't get reinforcements, and pull a typical October Crew swoon.
Tough to weed out those that might give their old team the benefit of the doubt while coming down on the other a little harder. I will say that the Crew looked pretty good tonight - they played one of their better games of the season thus far. Defense was pretty solid (omitting Gherig's OG - thems the breaks), Tchani looked good on the ball (few numbskull passes...), Finlay was fast, dangerous and giving the Right side plenty of trouble. Both sides gifted possession way too easily but our passing (when completed) looked pretty good. I'd like to see more of Rey - maybe keep using Meram as a super-sub and give Rey the majority of the minutes.
Andrew King just spoke with Greggg and he said Jimenez's injury doesn't look good. He's on crutches, with a brace and are waiting on an MRI
Crew was outstanding tonight. Against a team that allows 20% fewer shots than its opponents, the Crew doubled them up with one day-less rest and adjustment to altitude. GK Steve Clark wasn't MOTM because his defending six were solid. They've taken points from 6 of 7 games vs Western Conference opponents - a conference where 20 points puts you 15 pts out of first. The offside call on Arrietta - the only one against him all game - was wrong and the tackle on Jimenez should be reviewed. Say what you will about what this team "Needs," but the staff and the squad are making the most of "What it's got." And tonight, it was pretty damned impressive.
I had the same thing happen on Chrome and had to disable the pepperflash plugin. You may want to give it a shot: https://www.enounce.com/chrome-disable-pepperflash
FYI: Its a pool feed, the video is the same feed for teams, the difference is the audio overlay that comes from the mouthpieces hired by the each teams broadcast partners.
I just moved last week, haven't had internet installed yet. So I'm using the wifi from my aptartment complexes clubhouse, which is a good couple hundred feet away. Outside the big ass window in my living room, the signal dies everywhere else in my apt. On top of that, I'm using TunnelBear to watch. MLS Live was perfect for me last night, 720p and not hiccups the entire time. Used Google Chrome.
Officiating a CRIME! Crew looked DAM good! Even for those of us who have grown numb at horrible officiating, last night may well be the worst I have ever seen. And costing us the game on several game changing calls was not the worst of it. Allowing blatent, vicious, and highly dangerous tackles is a serious crime. That crew needs to be punished to the fullest extent. I hope Jimenez is okay. Oh, and what was up with the TV coverage? Close ups and replays shown at horrible times. Also, the live action window was often way to small to see what was developing in front of the goal, etc. Hopefully that was the holiday fill-in production crew. On the brighter side: The Columbus Crew put together several of the best sequences I can remember seeing out of the team. Although we were weak at a couple of positions and gave excellent chances, some of which should have been goals against us, there were several periods where we looked like a dam good team. Outstanding one touch passing, agressive defensively at every position, excellent holding the ball. We dominated that game. Of particular note for me: - It's official. Finley is good. Real good. As that kid continues to gain composure and maturity to go along with his physical atttributes, he is going to be a beast. The uncalled foul against him outside of the box was downright sinful. - Anor had another GREAT day at back. I wonder what will happen when Francis returns. I like Francis too. - Other than the fact that he still stuggles distributing the ball, Tchani is a real force to reckon with back there. He continues to emerge at our strongest player at winning balls in his vicinty and holding it. We just need him to cut out the costly give aways and develop his distribution vision and touch. But to me, he his positive progress has been significant. This all could get pretty interesting!
The scoreline may may have said 1-1 but tchani winning a header and getting it on target (keeper actually having to dive to save it) is a victory for me and the crew organization. We should all be proud. I will certainly remember where I was when it happened. and will reminisce with my grand kids...yes little jimmy I saw it live, he rose like a salmon and headed it down...if it was not for the keeper making the save of the century the story would have been different that night. Yes Cameroon did go on an win the world cup four years later, led by Tchani heading the winner in the final....ah sigh. they don't make players like that anymore. I think I forgot my meds this morning.
to add to the mls live/chrome thing. I started off on chrome, and no matter what setting it was choppy. switched to ie and enjoyed the rest of the game with no issues,
