2012 SuperDraft 2nd Round Pick Greg Jordan wins NASL Play of the Week. http://www.nasl.com/article/uuid/98u7ewmj2gjc18q8dhw1koo1d/greg-jordan-of-mnu-wins#.U5B8sShunGV Not a big thing, but I like to keep track of the guys who were supposed to be part of the great "Youth" movement.
Watched some Valdes tonight. (Yes, I'm considering him a Union Alumnus.) And saw Mondragon on the bench.
Based on some Twitter reports, it looks like everyone's favorite ZOLO David Myrie may have gotten a very late call into Costa Rica's WC squad I guess PartyFro Lopez was busy.
With that goal, he is now tied for the 85th most prolific MLS goal-scorer of all time, with 29 career goals. He is one goal behind Alecko Escandarian and two behind Will Bruin.
Super classy move by Pekerman today, subbing Mondragon in for the last 10 min of their final group game. I was already glad to be watching Valdes, but when he brought on Mondragon I have to admit it brought a little bit of a tear to my eye. Terrific guy and a terrific career. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...ord-for-world-cups-oldest-player-9561008.html
Seeing Mondragon and Valdes on pitch at the same time was bittersweet. It makes me wish what could have been. What a terrific save by the old man! Point blank.
Sorry to intrude, Just wanted to say hats off to Faryd Mondragón in being the oldest player to ever appear in a WC. Can anyone tell me why exactly the Union let him go? Was it his decision or the clubs? Just usurious! Cheers!
He said it was "family reasons". I heard that things were not "happy" in the locker room and he wanted out. http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/1110...phia-union-release-goalkeeper-faryd-mondragon Honestly, the world may never know.
At 39/40 years old, he probably didn't care to listen to anyone and wanted to do his own thing. Don't blame him all that much if that was the case. Glad he got in a match at the WC.
Yea, he was a good leader for the team, and Nowak couldn't have any of that as this was right when all hell started to break loose.
ZOMG David Myrie in da house for CR against Holland. Robben better watch his knees. You can't make this stuff up.
