Sweet! Second year in a row that they have brought an EPL team to Sacramento for friendlies. Given the schedule compression, I would think that a lot of the guys who haven't been getting many minutes now will be given some playing time. It's going to be a soccer-packed July in Sacramento!
Me too. Seems a bit much right in the middle of the season. Our guys are going to have dead legs for the Pitt game. I don't like that, considering we are sitting fourth place, and the teams behind us are close in points. We could be sacrificing 3 points to the last place team
My Premier League team comes to my hometown right on the same week I am heading abroad to work! (I have been following Republic too, though.) Damn. I think I might be able to make it to the match on the 21st if there are any left after the ST holders get their tickets.
Got some interesting e-mail from the team this weekend, which sheds a little more light on the 2-game schedule against West Brom. Looks like the first day is the STH game which our ticket packages include, while the second game is being dubbed this year's "Sacramento Soccer Day" (similar to last year's vs Norwich City). Maybe they see it as more of a chance to get others to games, but oh well. My gripe is this is a ton of games in a short amount of time, even if they're friendlies. Expect to see a lot of backups getting minutes in these. I hope the regular season games are the priority.
According to the teams Twitter account, both matches are now part of the season ticket package. Playoff ticket #3 can be used for this match. Seems odd they would change their mind just over a week from the matches. I'll be out of town so I'll most likely be given away/selling the tickets.
If we make the playoffs, I'll be contesting the hell out of that. They're doing the switcheroo because I assume the front office has figured out that five matches in one week is difficult to sell. Go figure.
Weird. They shouldn't have scheduled two West Brom matches. It's just weird, and now they're dealing with this. 6k are STHs, so they'll all make it out the the first game, but they expect all new people for the second? I dunno.
They had extended the date season ticket holders could purchase tickets for their seats. Most people probably passed on the offer because as you said there are way too many matches. STHs now get the second game in addition to the first.
