Thinking of changing my name to WTF_Bento!!!

This falls squarely on his shoulders. Where was the Portugal that played Sweden? The main difference between that team and this is that our counters have turned to shit. We are not quick on the counter (with quick one touch passes to release Ronaldo, instead we hold up the ball way too long. For this, the coach must take the blame. F off Bento.

It's not just that. It's also his distribution. We had nobody coming back to pick up the ball from the defenders before he came on. Veloso was nowhere to be seen before he went to left back.

Moutinho's form also doesn't help on the counter. Nor the fact that for a long time we had nobody collecting from the CBs and starting the attack.

We had no midfield yesterday. It was not there. The whole team was a joke. If I was Bento, apart from William and Varela, none of those muppets should ever wear a Portugal jersey again (not even the vaca sagrada Ronaldo). What the **** happened to Moutinho? To Nani? We've gone back to those times when we got beaten by everyone. Paulo Bento is a tosser. We won't win anything until we have a half decent coach and our clubs stop buying brazilians and Serbians. Our strikers are mediocre: who are we going to start? Rodrigo? Jackson? Montero? Portuguese football is rotten.

I agree, i disagree with the notion out there that it's just a specific club causing this. It's a much broader problem. Ultimately, the big three are the most collectively responsible.

That's what you want to see just like in the USMNT forum how portugal is only Ronaldo I doubt a team that couldn't beat a poor Portugal with no proper LB and a cb in Ricardo costa who played in 3wc and still had less than 20 caps and Pepe and Coentrão out and Alves and Ronaldo both playing with no legs and nani who hasn't played in over a year and still Portugal were dominant in patches and if we were not dominantbagainstbyourbteam Howard would of never won MOTM

    Your not winning Germany

Good point. This is particularly relevant defensively b/c our fragile left-side was being constantly attacked and Bento claimed that "we tried to address it but without success". Well, how about moving Nani, who can defend, to the left-wing?!?!

I sincerely can't remember one time that US tried to attack JP on the other side - it was that obvious.

I was so disappointed in Eder . the man had so many opportunities to make something happen and
that shot ugh that dam shot .....
Anyways the Coentrao injury along with Pepe's red was a big blow IMO ..
As you can't expect a selection to cope well with the loss of two world class defenders .....

In the last round I'll be praying for a miracle cause Cristiano doesn't deserve for it to end this way :( ..

Old legs are not working at this world cup and the fact Bento can't acknowledge this is really sad. In reality Carlos Mane, Andre Gomes, Cavaleiro, Carrico, Diogo F, Paulo Oliveira, Ilori, Cedric Guerreiro should have come into more serious consideration, Neto looked the best of our defenders on the friendlies and doesn't see much game time? William clearly will be a stalwart for the NT for a long time but we have to wait 135 mins to see him. I'm a bit disillusioned with Ronaldos performance and while I don't think they should drop him I do believe his position for portugal should be a false 9 like Germany uses Muller. Huge overhaul required.

    Ill let Jogi know.

But the way he angrily kicked the ball back onto field on Saturday makes me believe Germany will go for it anyway.

When Nani plays the ball past Zusi, Zusi's first movement is not to chase the ball, but to lunge to his left to cut off Nani's path, then retrieve the ball.

    That's a foul.

Nani has to be the most frustrating player to watch as a Portugal fan. How many simple "traps" of the ball did he flub?

I noticed CR7 was mostly on the right and centralized at times. I would have swapped flanks with Nani some as well and have him go at Beasley, who's a questionable marker at best. Nani failed to take advantage of his matchup on that flank.

Eder was pretty much a "cone."

Someone seriously needs to buy you a keyboard with punctuation keys. I have an easier time reading Portuguese than that.

Watch it again. Zusi's first move is to lunge to his left and block Nani's path to the ball. Only once Nani is stopped, does Zusi go back for the ball.

There have been much, much softer PK's in this World Cup.

That missed PK isn't even a huge deal to me, because I don't expect Portugal to get any PK's in the World Cup unless Mexico intentionally handles the ball in the 18 or Iran chops us down.

It's just funny how people are wilfully blind to things they don't like.

I'm really sorry, you guys. I was hoping you would win...

Hopefully, Germany won't settle for a draw on Wednesday and you beat Ghana by 2+ goals. It's not over until it's over!
