It's not Crimea per se. It is all about playing one country's matches on the territory of another without permission. Qatar is a simple case of corruption. Russia is occupying parts of another country's territory.

I see what you're getting at. I am certain Russia will not jeopardize the World Cup. If they need to withhold playing matches in Ukrainian territory until then they most certainly will, if FIFA/UEFA mandate as much.

So, FFU is against allowing Russia to play its matches in Crimea. As expected. At this point I dare Russia to disregard UEFA and FIFA.

Russia will vote on the issue tomorrow(and more than likely accept them) It will be interesting to hear FIFA and UEFA's response. We'll be able to tell where this is heading by their response. If it is quick and stern then they may get somewhere. If there is no response or it's "weak" then The RFU will walk all over them(as expected.)

It is not about whether the clubs will be accepted. It is whether they will be based in Ukraine (Crimea)

Crimea is Russian now. Crimea doesn't want Ukraine nor care about Ukraine. The Crimean teams have already changed their names and created new clubs. The people of Crimea voted to become Russian. Ukraine needs to let it go and worry about their own issues. Which they have so many of right now.

The people in Kiev(who voted for) ousted their elected leader through terrible violence. The people of Crimea held a diplomatic vote and decided to leave Ukraine. It's that simple.

The whole world recognizes Crimea as a part of Ukraine (aside from the well known popular tourist destinations, such as Zimbabwe, Cuba, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and North Korea, etc.), so does UN and every other international organization.

The Crimean Referendum was deemed illegitimate by Kyiv government and everybody else, it was attempted under the guns of Russian troops, which made it illegitimate according to international law. As it turns out, only 15% voted and of those 15% no more than 60% supported leaving Ukraine. it appears, many Crimeans are no against being in Ukraine.

P.S. Ukrainian leader was not ousted violently. He was ousted by a vote of a democratically elected (in 2012) Ukrainian Parliament (Verkhovna Rada).

Man that Spanish back-line got lit up, don't know how they're going to go deep with that defense.

    RVP goal, though. Hoo yea.

Who knows with our cowardly tactics we might even make it to the QF if we get Portugal instead of Germany.

That was quite simply "schoolboy" as Gary Neville put on the BBC. Akinfeev looked shaky all game, and I've always thought he was quite over-rated, but even I didn't expect a howler of that magnitude.

The only positive is that it seemed to wake up the rest of the squad, and the last 25 minutes of the game was pretty fun to watch. Kerzha comes on once again to save the day, and Russia had the better of the chances the rest of the way. One could say they were unlucky to get a gamewinner in the last 25 minutes.

The first 65 minutes was sure a snoozefest. If the first 65 were indications of Capello's master plan - please, go back to the drawing board, it looked like watching Nigeria-Iran all over again.

I think that if not for that howler by Akinfeev (shades of Filimonov, don't you think?), the game would have come to a dull 0-0 end.

First thing I thought of when Akinfeev blundered was Filimonov's Folly.

Filimonov, who IMHO was a d@mned good keeper, was never the same after.

The game definitely picked up after the blunder, and like I said before, I think Russia was a bit unlucky not to net another to win outright.

Blunder or no blunder the team showed awful stuff all around, and I'm just disgusted with this performance.
