Okay make no mistake I believe till the end, but I am just going proceed in this thread under the assumption Portugal is out of this WC...

    Portugal
    ACABOUUUUUUUUUUUU

    WHAT HAS HAPPENED...

CR7 legacy becomes one of constant failure on the NT, which to be honest is not much better than any other Portugal legend. The world got what they wanted.

    THE FUTURE

CR7 will turn 30 next year and begin winding down his career.

no new youth coming up, Some Big Portuguese clubs dont give chances to their youth.

Portugal has a negative population growth, so in 30 -40 years instead of 10 million it will probably have about 8 million people. even less players to choose from.

thankfully EURO's will now be 24 teams ,so we can sneak into Euro tournaments even when we are shit and get raped 4-0 by germany again

    Pop Quiz for everyone...
When has Portugal ever beaten Germany, France, Italy, or Spain in a match that really mattered
    ?
    Answer: NEVER

Until we do that, we are a 2nd or 3rd rate European team.

We can occasionally get wins on England or Netherlands, but never the big four of Europe.

Portugal might have been able to win an euro cup since it was less rounds, the chances of playing only England, Netherlands, and a team like Czech or something until the cup was much more probable. now with an extra round we would certainly run into France, Italy, or Germany again and lose.

Of Course in 2004 this is what happened. Netherlands and England in the KO rounds, than we lost to Greece at home...

Anyways Portugal has always been a generational team.

we have had a good run from 1996-2014. but now it looks like another phase of mediocrity like we endured in the 1970s and much of the 80s and 90s is about the befall us.

Time for the Porkchops of Toronto (Porkchops as in not Portuguese people) can have fun busting out their Brazilian flags for future WCs and making us look like clowns.

    1....2.....3......
    PORTUGAL...ACABOUUUUUUUUU

    Unless REFORMS are made!!!!

If we are gonna go down this WC, I hope we go down in style

if USA tries some shit, lets fight them...

but I hope we play anti-football 1-0, 1-0 1-0, all the way to the final and take the cup

    PORTUGAL SPAIN FINAL OLEEEEEEEEEEEEe

Delete that Brazilian flag comment. That pisses me off to no end. Portugal not in a World Cup means there is no World Cup and just watch as a neutral.

Beat Spain or Germany when it matters? Why does euro 2000 or euro 2004 not count? I guess you mean elimination games, but still not a huge sample size and the past does not predict the future with any kind of certainty.

I have a hard time with people that say the talent pool is dried up, it's almost as if you don't want to notice all our youth teams have been successful but rather just say that to be overly dramatic and negative which is a horrible Portuguese
    trait.

Could it be Portugal goes back to being non factor in world football? Yes of course, but it won't be because of this one game. Calm down, just like the Netherlands fans that said they were going to go to the dark ages in football because of euro 12.

lol, Z i love you but i agree with Nani_17 on this. Portugal was playing a good game up until the penalty was given and then all hell broke lose........I'm still positive for Sunday. We get to play a team a horrible Ghana team dominated.

We were always a 2nd string European team, were you in any delusions about that? Until we win once, we cannot claim otherwise. But that doesn't stop me from loving our Selecao.

Come every qualifying, I'll be right there with the flag on my shoulders.

You are pathetic. Do us and all of Portugal a favour, take down the Portugal flag, tell no one that you are/were Portuguese, go post in the Brazil forum and never show your face in here again.

Thursday is the hopeful end to: Bento, Meierles, Veloso, Postiga, Almeida, Patricio, Nani, Eder, and Ronaldo. Time for a Youth movement and start prepping for WC 2018 and Euro 2020. Euro 2016 should be 50/50 weather we qualify with 13-16 U23's on the roster.

Rafa, William, Coentrao, Eduardo, Beto, Moutinho, Perreira, and Neto are the only players from this squad that should still receive call ups.

Did you hear how the Brazilians were booing Ronaldo and cheering USA USA during the game? I'd be ashamed to wave a Brazilian flag

From the TV view, it looked like the Brazilians were in full support of Portugal.

Well, that shouldn't shock anybody. Alot of Brazilians actually despise Portugal just like most people of the other South/Central American countries despise Spain. That's yet another reason as to why it's senseless to wave around a Brasil flag if Portugal get eliminated. As if we should need another reason.

    Just don't do it.

I have to say this is my first time in Brazil and there have been more negatives than positives in terms of my interactions with the locals both with my portuguese and australian jersey on. A Brazilian and I had to be separated by a cop because he saw my australian jersey and my portuguese scarf and started having a crack at how shit we where and I tried to ignore the ********er but he kept going and I told him what I thought of his country in comparison to other places I have been. He was not happy hehehehe childish I know but we had just drawn with the states

some Portuguese people here, when Portugal is eliminated from the world cup. they will put a brazil flag on their car instead and root for Brazil. at least this is what people say, Im not sure how prevalent that is anymore.

I know it used to be common when Portugal wasn't making the World Cup in the 90s.
