Z....love the enthusiasm, but enough of the BS, we sucked. I more than anyone hope they can reach the last16, but i must admit they were woeful, from goaltender on out it was a shambles.

What happened to the passing? I cannot believe we kept handing them the ball in the first half.

So far we look to be the worst side at the World Cup and go into our next matches even weaker. What a total disaster.

4-0 loss is definitely hard to take. I can see some positives though since we beat ourselves more than Germany beat us.

Rui Patrício : horrific, lacks confidence and because of that lacks skill. made a big save on Gotze but that was about it. His two miss passes led up to both the 2nd and 4th goal. i know its rough but we need to call in eduardo.
João Pereira : very sub par. lost possession plenty of times uselessly. He can play much better than he did today.
Pepe : nothing really to say here.
Fábio Coentrão : held the ball well, made some great runs and rarely lost possession. Losing him is a huge blow for us.
Bruno Alves : out of position on the 3rd goal, but other than that I didn't see much of him, which isn't good at all.
Miguel Veloso : also anonymous to me
João Moutinho : our only hope in midfield. he couldn't do it himself. good control, tried to release cr7 once but it didn't happen
Nani : didn't beat anyone 1v1 and didn't send in anything meaningful. i don't think we have enough depth here to not start him though.
Raul Meireles : i feel he played well. he won back possession and kept moving. he didn't generate anything offensive since he was relegated to a defensive role.
Cristiano Ronaldo : our only offensive threat at any time in the game.
Hugo Almeida : what a waste of a starting spot this bigode is. tries to chip the keeper cause he doesn't have enough skill to beat someone 1v1, not even with his strength or anything and then he hesitates on a move only to injure himself and lose possession.

Ricardo Costa : very solid when we needed it a man down. good replacement for pepe now that he's gone.
André Almeida : cant ask much from this guy. good hussle but lacks skill
Éder : this guy is like a breath of fresh air compared to immobile almeida. holds the ball well, plenty of pace, had trouble winning headers, which surprised me, but nonetheless, definitly a step up from bigode. he's earned a starting spot for me

Yes but is it worth having a time bomb go off at any moment? We could easily replace Pepe with someone just as good ex. Neto without having to worry about him doing some stupid shit.

After Pepe was sent off we were ********ed but I will say we played with hard and with garra to not concede more had the USA or Ghana lost a man at the 37th minute mind you out best player looked shit they would of lost 7-0 we have two games left against teams we can beat

The hardest team to play in probably the whole cup we just played so the next game is ours remember 2002 we lost the opener or 2012 we lost that game we beat one of the better Polands ever 4-0. We beat holland 2-1

I'm not worried more so if USA tie or lose to a hungry Ghana side and guess what those two still have to play Germany and guess what both teams weak points are the defense

And to top that off we have Ricardo costa and Luis Neto ready to get in there

Not trolling here, I'd like your opinions on what happened today against Germany. Why such a profound meltdown?

I think the fact Germany used a one man wall and ronaldo proceeded to hit that one guy sums up this afternoon.

We started well. Ref handed a soft PK. We fell asleep on a corner. Pepe lost his cool, game over

Briefly, an aged team, with key players far from being in good shape, and mental weakness.

This tournament is turning into a nightmare for the two Iberian teams. As for Germany, we beat ourselves. Self destructed. They will crash out in the knockout stages like they always do and we will get the last laugh.

Yeah that's a lot of nonsense. Germany will get to the QF's minimum we will be very lucky to get to the round of 16. Assuming our attitude improves which for Portugal usually only happens when we get a new coach.

I'm going to try to watch US Ghana tonight to get a better sense of their strengths but I think this looks very, very grim.

Without Pepe and Coentrao we will have lost a ton of speed on Defense and our Midfield will have to drop even further back to help out. Not to mention morale. Morale will be near the floor after watching Pepe/Coentrao double-whammy.

Meanwhile, no coach could have been blind - CR simply cannot or will not sprint. This simplifies defensive assignments for opponents considerably and gives opposing fullbacks license to attack. This is a huge double-whammy.

Finally, Hugo is probably hurt for at least 1 game. I think Postiga is hurt as well (he looked unfit in the Ireland game and wasn't close to coming on for Hugo today). So we basically will have one fit striker, who has hardly any experience.

I really would have liked to see William start, hindsight is 20/20 but man.. there's a chance he could have cut out a lot of the Germans attacks. We didn't have a strong DM out there and it showed.

I'm comfortable with Neto but Coentrao out is a disaster.... Antunes I think would fill in nicely but he's not here.

Almeida's start was justified but god I hope he doesn't play again, Eder was good and Postiga the 1st sub.

Eduardo in goal please... Patricio's level has dropped and Eduardo was awesome in the friendlies.

It feels like we're out but USA and Ghana cannot do what the Germans did to our defense. We should go through but LB is a huge weakspot that cannot be adressed. :(

At this point, I would be so incredibly happy to see Portugal find a way out of this group. We're back to being overrated hotheads in the eyes of everyone else, but how else is one supposed to react to a snapshot of this match?

If nothing else, Eduardo really does have to start against the U.S. Rui hasn't been good enough recently to stick with him; it's not like he's a team-leader or a legend. Eduardo deserves a shot after his performances in 2010 and the friendlies. Portugal needs his aggressiveness and fire in the next match.

I'd feel a lot better if I was confident Bento wasn't going to somehow play it really safe and bungle the starting 11 for the next match. That says a lot.

Bottom line is that 3 points were lost and that was to be expected before kickoff.

The only loss that matters in this is how bad Coentrao is hurt.

Agreed, it was a soft penalty, but we stank overall, tired of the hype with no results.
