Everyone says the 3-2 loss to USA and the 1-0 loss to the Koreans in 2002 were our worse losses ever. No way, this one is by far the worse I've seen Portugal.

It's obvious the players know it too. CR passed to A Almeida once and everybody has ignored him since - even wehn he's in good position.
Veloso will play LB I'm sure and WC will come on to MF for the USA game.

Eder's been our best player....which isn't saying much.

Chances of going through are now slim to none. Pepe, Coentrao all out vs US

I don't blame ROnaldo taking 40-yard shots. What else can he do?!

I just want him to hit the target (like in that last one (a rocket)).

We did better with 10 guys but these clowns should be ashamed.

Hopefully Paulo bento doesn't hooker binge like in 2002 now.

Referee blows the whistle. Mercy. Thank you Germany for not posting a historic score (they could have easily).

After the World Cup, we need to clean house. Out with the old, in with the new generation.
    This is humiliating.

We didn't play better with 10. Germany just went into training mode. Thankfully. And we got very lucky - they had several wide open chances where the ball just bounced our way.

Nani wouldn't even acknowledge him and would prefer to pass 3 guys then the easy open pass

This is a sad and embarrassing day. No Pepe and Coentrao probably hurt. I just hope they can find motivation from this as I am sure they have to be embarrassed.

People only remember the last thing they saw, just like we became all Ronaldo after Sweden I am sure they think we suck now. I think the U.S game will show us if they are mentally tough or not. If not time to implement the young kids.

What an embarrassment........all the anticipation.....Patricio looks awful. Ughhh....feel bad for the fans, seen so many here wearing their scarves and shirts proudly prior to the game only to see this shitfest. Oh well, we're just not good enough.

Pepe should refund them their tickets and accept a kick to the groin.

I don't think it would matter.

    This is a cultural thing.

This is simply a group of self-entitled individuals who have drank way too much cool aid.

    everything went against us,

should have had a penalty in the second half too.

anyways, us being out of sorts in the opening game is normal.

but yeah our chances are more minimal now with injuries to key players and suspensions.

We started the game so well. One soft PK and the team implodes.

This game is what I had feared 2 years go. Then I was surprised by a great game.

Today I dared to dream of something a little better. A draw or a squeeky win.

Instead, we witnessed the collapse of the entire campaign. I can't imagine how we will recover from the debacle of losing Pepe and Coentrao. Not to mention the growing realization that Ronaldo still cannot sprint. And maybe losing Hugo Almeida.

I don't know - maybe we can somehow pull it together against USA and Ghana but this is losing extremely grim. One of the worst games I can ever remember.

In retrospect I'm glad it happened at Noon, away from prime time, so my son didn't get to see this debacle...

I'm sorry, but this wasn't a simple case of things not going our way.

This was a total mental breakdown.

And to think that PB was given an extension by the FPF. geez

Oh, and I don't blame Bento's starting lineup. The MF actually did ok until the PK (and the play started with a few lucky bounces for Germany). He couldn't have predicted that Pepe would lose his mind or that Coentrao would pull a muscle reaching for a ball that was out of reach.

But I do blame Bento for bringing Andre Almeida and letting him step on a field?! Wow. He's an embarrassment. And he might be the final nail in this coffin. Antunes must be fuming. Easily one of Bento's worst decisions as NT coach to date.

    Its over guys.

Coentrao and Pepe are MASSIVE loses, especially with Ronaldo not being able to sprint.

Meireles was non-existent, but now that Veloso will have to go LB because bento surely cant ignore how aweful andre almeida was....we ar ********ed.

    Joao Peroera-Neto-Bruno Alves-Veloso

    Defense...oh my God.
