Not sure if I believe this story, but if true, the reasons would be: Same country/passport number Same address Same games I don't think the name is an issue because many people have the same name. I have a friend who did 2 of the 3 (not the same games) and had no problem. Still not sure why FIFA would not show the cancelled orders on the account like they do for unsuccessful lottery applications (red-lined out).
well to be fair the resold ones also show as ready for pick-up or even delivered by mail and never change
That what I was thinking. Why would someone had to wait until they go to pick their tickets to see they were cancelled? If that is true, then everyone who used more than one account should fear that you might not be able to even enter the stadium until you are there, since no one can be 100% sure what the website is saying...
Well I went back to look at the ticket resale regs and it specifically says that FIFA's acceptance is based on the assumption that the Applicant has observed all the sales restrictions and that if at any time they detect a violation, they can cancel. To me that means they could theoretically get you at the stadium but I think the ticket pickup will really be the telling point.
One thing I'm doing, for each ticket I purchased in my new account is to pickup it on the next day So if I get any trouble I may loose only those new tickets and not those already picked, assuming that Fifa would not cancel tickets already printed. Of course it only can be done if you are in Brazil.
In theory you are right, and I also believe that this is might be what they are doing. Still, I wonder what will happen if everyone who got tickets using more than one account and collect their tickets suddenly find out that you can't enter in the stadium because it was blocked, not considering the number of people blocked because they bought tickets from another person. Mr. Weil said in an TV interview that FIFA is buying tickets from touts just to block all tickets that were in the name of the person who bought it. There would be thousands outside.
I arrive on the 14th and will report back to the group. We will take care to appear to be separate households! We have an appointment in Natal, but we are going to try and pick up at the new Rio airport ticket office while we are on our 6 hour layover. A friend called and the wait for those without appointments has only been 30 minutes.
Landed yesterday at Salvador, a party of 3 households (3 people altogether). All three accounts have different and real names, with the 2 guests being the 2 other people. Around 15:30, tickets line for the desk or the machine in the airport were empty, one of my companions went to the machine, and got his tickets after 5 minutes, no questions asked. We decided to collect the tickets on separate days, to reduce the risk, so that if they are "following" us because of suspicions, they could not link between us.
Seems like just the one case. Also seems that the real problem was 2 accounts with same address and multiple purchases of same game. It seems that without the multiple purchases of the same game they would not care. They must check the address in their system and flag it when a second purchase is made for the same game. That would make sense since it looks like the second account was only created to purchase more tickets to the same game, which would violate the rules. They really should show the cancellation on the account page so people know beforehand. Especially since there could be legitimate reasons for similar accounts. Pretty draconian to cancel only at pick up.
Hey, you are the same person who posted that you had tickets cancelled in the Scorpyn Scanner thread a few weeks ago. Except in that thread you said that the ticket information changed from "successful" to "unsuccessful" on the FIFA website for the cancelled tickets, but that other tickets were not cancelled on the same account. Your stories do not seem consistent since you and your "friends" who had tickets cancelled were treated differently by FIFA. Really, it is a little too strange to believe. Maybe these are imaginary "friends." Two questions for you: 1. Why do you and your "friends" seem to be the only people in this whole forum to have their tickets cancelled? 2. What are you really up to?
I also noticed that you are the only person I have ever seen who had a "friend" who had her ID checked upon entry to a World Cup stadium (in 2010). Cancelled tickets, ID checks, hmmm... It seems to happen only to you and your "friends."
Wife and I just picked up tickets in Rio. To recap, we set up separate accounts using separate passports numbers, BUT same address and same credit card. We got TST-7 U.S. and TAT-7 AUS. I went first and I almost sh!# myself when the only matches that popped up were Portugal, Germany and the Final. The agent explained that the knock out games wont show until the teams are decided (whew), but needed to send me to a manager to sort out Ghana. Gulp. While I wait, my wife picked up the AUS group games (we skipped Chile yesterday). No problem. Manager sorted out Ghana/Natal and my heart started up again. Whew.
He's a Canadian West Ham fan, so dreaming of success on the field is unrealistic, for either club or country, so he dreams of issues with Fifa instead...
Sorry but I wasn't trying to stir anything up. Just wanted to see if there are any other issues out there but apparently this is a one-off occurrence. I'm glad to see no one else is having issues with cancelled tickets so we can just let this thread die.
