    *shrug*

Please see Michael Bradley's comments for the crux of what I was saying.

I bumped this particular thread for the dishonest, thinly veiled agenda-driven piece of trash that it is. It was created after a friendly where 75% of our team looked like crap after an exhausting camp. Jozy has enough of proven track record at this point for us not to make Kenny Cooper comparisons.

Go talk your nonsense to Emile Heskey and watch him laugh.
62 caps for England. 7 goals.

One game does not make a comeback or speak towards ongoing quality. I am glad he scored but his drought and general behavior on the field, or general malaise, still is an issue.

He's going to completely shift his career path with this world cup, he's going to produce big time for us and he will get his shot at bigger clubs

So should I bump your hilariously wrong assumption of Wondo too? Ive been long thinking about cutting and pasting the diatribe of failure and hilarity in that thread, you really want me to do that?

So precious you think one game in 28 club and country matches justifies yourself. Way to be a big man and posting your defense during the Azerbaijan game....... wait thats not what you did at all.

I truly hope so, he was stuck on a lousy team that it is a miracle they survived. I hope a team in the Bundesliga gives him a go if he has a good tournament. Im hoping he turned a corner here, but one game proves absolutely nothing to for the brave, brave posters who waited until the game he actually produced to defend him.

He's always been a baller. Two goals aside, he has been outstanding this sendoff series drawing countless fouls, holding the ball up and starting a counter and his movement has been excellent. Go back and see for yourself every time Bradley had the ball coming forward, Altidore made great runs off of the CBs

Oh please do! If I'm recalling correctly I said he wasn't good enough at a point when he had yet to score a goal for us. His Gold Cup play and subsequent appearances convinced me that he earned a spot, and I acknowledged as much early on. I made no grand pronouncements and created 0 immature threads so I think I was pretty fair.

So precious that you don't give me any credit for basing my opinion more than one stinky season with Sunderland that came with a big asterisk. His national team play has been great so not sure what you're on about there.

You think Wondo deserves to be on our squad? I don't what that says about him or the team....

Only in England could that work. Started at 2 different World Cups.

Many Sunderland fans think he's rubbish and they have a right to. I won't be high on Jozy until he starts scoring when it matters. I have perhaps a higher standard than some of you. I want us to do something big, and that means we need highly talented players playing in the best leagues. Guys like Wondo, AJ, and even Jozy are suspect and don't meet my standards. If he goes 0 and out in the WC, and then has another poor season next year in England, I think we need to start blooding new strikers for 2016. Jozy needs to prove his mettle and show that the doubters are wrong. To be honest, I don't see Jozy as our long term solution at Striker right now. Prove me wrong Jozy.

    "don't meet my standards"? Lol.
Dude, if your standards are THAT high then you're probably in the wrong country.

Well, people are all very excited here (on BS) about a guy who can't score more than 2 goals in a top league and has just broken a goalless period of half a year or so for his country against a disinterested team in a meaningless game. Sunderland fans and other fans abroad think he's crap and maybe they have a point and we're all just blinkered. I think we all should have higher standards and not get all hyped up over this guy until he actually scores some goals in the WC or next year in England.

He's a streaky striker and a journeyman but he has scored or assisted for us when it mattered. Remember against Slovenia. He set up the goal for Donovan against Algeria. Yes he has flopped in England. Maybe this league isn't ideal for him or maybe he just picked a garbage team but he's the best striker we have. He just needs the right environment. Maybe it's a small club in Germany or a mid table club in France but he will score and prove himself. He's only 24. And the World Cup is the right place for him to do so.

6th highest goal scorer for the NT. Eventually he'll be 3rd or 2nd by the time it's all said and done.

Man chill out. Jozy played well in a match right before the start of the WC. Just like you don't acknowledge that the prior two seasons he was a man on fire in the Netherlands, it's futile to bring up this past season. No one hear gives a shite. It's time for him to rock Ghana. Onward and upwards.

He needs to score where it counts and that is in a top league and at major international competitions like the WC. Friendlies or the HEX (besides mexico, teams are crap) is not something to get all excited about. Netherlands has no defense, it's a well known fact that success there doesn't mean shi&t. I hope he proves me and the Sunderland fans wrong...but he's a rubbish striker though from what I saw this year in England.

Well Altidore has to get out of his slump with his club. I don't think JK will keep playing a guy who is a bench player. It's a good thing he has a coach like Klinsmann who seems to try to mentally coach him with the national team. He won't get that with Sunderland.

Unless we have something better I suppose he has no choice. AJ hasn't shown anything better, he plays in Holland. Maybe Agudelo will prove better, who knows. I know that MLS strikers never seem to translate well into WC success so Wondo shouldn't be on the roster IMO. Mistake #4 for JK. #1 was Donovan, #2 was Green, #3 Gonzo, #4 - Wondo. He couldn't even conver that open header against Azeris.

I hope AJ and perhaps Agudelo and Boyd with their upcoming transfers give us some more options.

Jozy did well and I hope it's gonna be a seven game streak. I do feel it's just too much too soon to believe.
