Thanks guys. I'm just glad I was able to help a fellow bigsoccer fan. Hope I see you all here in Manaus, maybe at the AO party?
@Riker is in the running for best BS local...it's a tight race between him and azevedof....it's going to be close. In all seriousness thanks for helping us out....and one day we would like to know why in the world you are living in manaus.
@Riker. What's your take on the AO pregame setup..... are their cabs in that area to go to the game? . Obviously looks like a nice venue, more wedding party than a tailgate......but if that's where everyone will be then we don't have much choice. We are sheep, and proud of it.
Yeah, it's a little out of the way if you're staying downtown Manaus. You know, if there's enough of you interested, I'm sure I can get a van to pick you up around the Teatro, take to the party, to the match and back to the Teatro.
Riker...any suggestions for somewhere near the stadium we should be able to pay to park that will be fairly safe? My group has to drive straight to the airport after the game.
My three friends and myself are staying in the theatre district and would love to get a bus/taxi/donkey to the pre-game events and game. Happy to share with anyone else who is willing to arrange.
There are two malls near the stadium. Those are your best options. Check Amazonas Shopping and Millenium Shopping on google map.
If you're interested on the van service mentioned a couple of posts back, please PM me so I can get a quote.
You guys are looking for 'guarda-volumes'. The 'proteção' option will in fact result in the mummification of your luggage. A google search of 'areoporto manaus guarda volumes' returned multiple results including the following with some english (from 2011...) http://jeanedalbo.blogspot.com/2011/05/aeroporte-de-manaus-como-chegar-ao.html A few other results also mentioned buying a token for the lockers from the Brazil Gems store on the ground level. Best bet is probably to contact them for verification.
Here's the schedule for everything happening in Manaus during the WC (in portuguese): http://estaticog1.globo.com/2014/05/27/Agenda_cultura_junho_copa_manaus2014.pdf
I have an extra Cat3 ticket for this match. It's Section 330, Row O, Seat 16. I'm looking for face value, $90.
Yeah major thanks to Riker and mpetrik on the Hotel Monaco assistance, I got a similar email yesterday saying my reservation would be honored.
Hey Riker - I am staying at Caesar Business Hotel - how will I be able to get to the AO/US Soccer festivities the night before the game? Will there be sufficient taxis around to get to and from the party?
a thread in the USMNT News and Analysis forum about the weather in Brazil suggests that there is about a 50% daily chance of thunderstorms in Manaus during the period of the world cup. Can anyone comment on this? Is there a pattern to this? Is there any chance this could interrupt the match?
It's been a coin toss recently. Either scorching sun or violent thunderstorms. I leave home everyday with a pair of sunglasses and an umbrella never knowing which one I'll use. It's fun.
Does anyone know the USA, Portugal, or main media hotels in Manaus? I know England are staying at Blue Tree
FYI, check this page out: https://www.facebook.com/pages/CASA-Amigos-Do-Brasil/257731957743813?notif_t=page_new_likes It's a person opening his house to soccer fans, 10 mins walk from stadium. As an option if you don't have a hotel. I am staying there.
Hello all, Anyone wants 2 tickets for this game cat 1. I'm willing to sell for face value. Let me know
It rains practically every day in Manaus (it's expected), the wonders of the Amazon. I don't think it will interrupt any match, I mean, if they aren't prepared to deal with rain during matches in Manaus (of all cities) then someone failed...hard.
