Don't worry, Vieirinha will take his spot and prove the Haters wrong.

I honestly think Bento is toying with us. I'd like to see Ronaldo rested.

I don't understand your obsession with him. He's a nice player, but he was nothing against decent teams for us.

For me he's a borderline national team player in a generation without much depth. He's not even a consideration in 2016.

Knock on wood, but I think we are worrying for nothing. Ronaldo won't allow himself to miss out on the WC. I think this is just a period to rest, injury concerns exaggerated by the media and Bento. I also believe even if he doesn't train his form won't suffer as much as some other players would. Portuguese by nature tend to be drama queens, but I would put a sizeable wager on him being ready on time for Germany.

Ronaldo sighting, jogging across the field post match vs Greece, as captured by an American drone.

Ricardo Costa said today about CR7 injury

    abola.pt

said he is almost recuperated from his injury.

When it showed him walking across the pitch after the match, it seemed like he had a pretty big limp. Maybe he always had it, but it was just obvious to me this time around.

    FPF update

Cristiano Ronaldo - Lesão muscular da região posterior da coxa esquerda e tendinose rotuliana esquerda. Treino condicionado, individualizado, no campo

I dont know much about this, but apparently this is a pretty serious injury and requires much rest

however, he apparently jogged on the pitch today along with meireles and beto in training at the NY Jets stadium in new jersey,

So your looking forward to not being able to score goals? and not qualifying for WC?

thats the future I see post-CR7... all the players coming up are Defenders and mids, no attack

Hopefully Sporting's academy will continue to carry the NT into the future

You would think somebody that goes by the name of Diego Costa would have chosen Portuguese citizenship instead of Spanish.

nobody wants to be Portuguese, being Spanish means you are a winner and are hip and cool in the mainstream.

its funny cause when Portugal had a couple brazilians everyone criticises it, but when Spain or Germany or Italy does it you dont hear a thing.

from what I read to cure tendenitis you need weeks of rest,

I think CR7 has only played 1 match in the last few weeks, the CL final.. he missed the last couple la liga matches...

playing in the CL final likely delayed his recovery, but today he got to jog in training... he probably is close to recovery and may be ready to play vs Germany but there is a risk it could get aggravated again if he isnt 100% by then! and that can be dangerous because worst case scenario he could break it and will than miss a few months and Real Madrid will be pissed, and who knows if hell be able to recover back to how he was with his 30th birthday approaching next season.

hopefully he will recover 100% and be healthy.

We know Cr7 will make sure he plays, he will not want to miss this WC... just hope he is 100% when he does play.

No way he'll be 100% at this world cup. What is this guy doing anyway training and running when he should've been resting.

PB knows there's a very good chance CR is not going to be able to contribute properly in the 4 3 3 so that's why he went 4 4 2 against the Greeks. I think we will be seeing CR in a striker role at this WC in a 4 4 2 so that he doesn't have to expend as much energy as he would in the 4 3 3 out on the wing. smh.

I agree, which is why I think he tested William-Veloso together...I could see this as our lineup:

    -------------------------Patricio--------------------------
    ----------------Pepe---------------Bruno Alves---------
    Periera-------------------------------------------------Coentrao
    ---------------------William Carvalho-------------------------------
    --------Nani-----------------------------------Veloso--------------------
    ---------------------Moutinho-----------------------------------------------
    ---------Postiga--------------------Ronaldo----------------------------------

His tried and test losango at Sporting with Nani even playing in the same position.

Worried about Nani as well, he did well vs Greece but it was still obvious that while his brain thought he had his old explosiveness, the body didn't.

this is actually a interesting tactic.. both coentrao and pereira are suitable FBs for this.

all SCP /ex SCP midfield.... and PB won 2 Tacas like this lol. Ronaldo can focus on finishing.
this lineup you have features 9 players who have donned the sacred colors of green, white and black (including Pepe who spent some early days at SCP) LOL

Problem is if Coentrao goes down we are ********ed... AA cant attack... really should have Antunes as a back up but whatever... wouldnt mind seeing this tactic to be honest.

I believe Ronaldo will be just fine for the opener against Germany. Bento is playing mind games, with the opposition and with the media. Make the Opposition work on a game plan that does not involve Ronaldo and make the media circus that follows Ronaldo's every move exploit the idea that Ronaldo will not play to play into the opposition game plan of not counting on having to defend Ronaldo. In the End, Portugal makes a last minute announcement that Ronaldo will play and is at 100%, and we blow the opposition away>

    Ya, not happening.

1- Real Madrids specialist is with the ntl team, they wouldn't send him unless it wasn't atleast semi worrisome

2- Ronaldo hasn't come close to practicing yet and the World Cup starts in 8 days...

Geez. Ronaldo will be fine, he'll play a supporting role if he wants to take precautions. Against Germany, we gotta go all out, not sit back and wait to score. Also I want Vieirinha to start over Nani, scouting V and he rarely makes mistakes and is in better fit than Nani.

I am confident in our D and MF but more concerned about scoring. USA sure seems confident the can beat us reading the blogs.

Yup. Really screwed. Coentrao was a beast for Portugal last tourney and the critics said we wouldn't make it out if the group. I like Coentrao cause he plays hard, he's got character and we need those types on this team. Play hard.
