It's a memorial right? I mean there is a difference between a memorial and a wake ( or viewing as some call it). I'm guessing todays thing was about a mass and people saying things in memorium about Lark. I don't think it was a public wake.
I didn't end up going as planned. I honestly wasn't in the mood to see all the autograph hunters there.. I had a few people IM me last night and ask if I wanted to 'meet up' with them and 'go get autographs' with them.. heck no. Honestly.. and these weren't teenages.. well 2 weren't.. one was an 18 year old. Also.. I'm still greiving a previous death that happened earlier this year that has made a huge impression on me.. I just didn't feel too comfortable.. I hope the girls weren't attacked too much by the autograph hunters.. -Rita
Dangit. I knew something like this was going to happen. I hope you put them in their place Rita. And just think if they did go...they'd be IMing you and everyone else bragging about their stalking exploits. And I'm sure Rita wasn't the only one that got IM'd about this. I'm sure there were others we don't even know about that were planning on doing similar things. Sad.
Thank you. Smart thinking. A lot of the responsible people would have showed up, go through the event, and leave. For goodness sake it's one of those times where the players just want to be themselves, and give the fans and everyone else in the soccer world a chance to give their due.
Celebration of Life The reason that the memorial service was publicized was because that's the way Brandi, Chad, and Roger wanted it. They wanted to give everybody that was touched by Lark an opportunity to be a part of this celebration of life. And after hearing others relate their experiences with Lark and her family, I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that Lark would want it that way, too. It was very tastefully done. Hundreds of people were in attendance. I saw no photographers, no autograph hounds, and nobody that needed to be "put in their place." I did hear a lot of loving, touching, comforting, and humorous stories as people relayed their experiences with Lark and her family. Even though Brandi, Chad, and Roger spoke with heavy hearts, each of their talks was laced with humor, as they described the gusto with which Lark treated everybody she met and life in general. At the end of the service, aisle by aisle, we held hands and said a prayer for Lark. Brandi read from a letter that she received from an unnamed well-wisher that she says epitomizes her mom's spirit. The letter painted a picture of Lark loudly proclaiming (presumably with her megaphone in hand): "From this day forward -- ENTHUSIASM, here in Heaven, is NOT an option!" --Socceroo
It sounded peaceful and honorable. Good to hear, thank you. I hope the organization can use tonight's exhibition as a way to get their minds off of what has happened and to maybe get some emotions out. Rita, I'm sorry you had to deal with those losers but I'm sure you let them know what's up. Good job and we all appreciate it.
saw this on the front page of cnnsi.com... thought you might like to read it. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/inside_game/michael_silver/news/2002/09/25/open_mike/
excellent! What a wonderful article! Thank you for posting, it is great to know that the family is doing well. Chad is an inspiration just like his mom.
