Shit I said it before last season. Derics been on the bench for way too long while tally has been making a lot of money that we could use on a forward.
He has been especially poor in his kicks this season. I was happy to see him throwing the ball. These two errors are bad. He should sit a game or two.
2 random thoughts: #1 this is a terrible SJE team and #2 Alex Lopez did NOT under any circumstances look absolutely terrible that he deserves to be buried that far down the bench.
Lopez and his passing was a positive, but Ashe's crosses negated that. Sarkodie, and Carrasco looked good. What are the Dynamo going to do about the ongoing problem with scoring?
Question: we have 17 points thru 14 games - in our final 20 games do we get 30 points? Because I think we will still need 45+ points to make the playoffs
I'm done with Ives Galarcep. His site has gone to hell from poor writing, over the top posters, and now he thinks that was a good pk call. If that was a good call in his eyes, I can't trust his writing anymore.
i was looking at this today. end of June is the the season's midpoint. i thought that in order to smell 20 points before reaching 17 games that we had to take points from San Jose. now faced with away games at Colorado & Montreal and a home game against KC we may be stuck at sub-20 points at the midseason point. in comparison, during the 30-game 2010 season we were at 15 points at the 15-game midpoint averaging 1 point per game. we may see the exact same PPG if we're stuck at 17 points at the 17-game midpoint.
man, not even the sunshine police can save this thread.... here, let me try: "come on guys, chins up! we have a lot of hurt players, bruin is young and still learning, barnes is playing out of position, the season is still young, Tally has been nails for us in the past, ref's suck, we've played lots of games in a short period, and once we get in the playoffs--it's magic time!!!" no? well, i tried. i'll leave it to one of our "real fans" to come in and gloss over our terrible talent that trods up and down the field on a weekly basis. PS by the end of june, we could be among the worst in the league, the US could be bounced & the Dash could have a total of 3 wins. but somehow it will still be our midfields "lack of service" that is holding everything back.......
Yeah, we called for it last week in our GM For a Day article. This off-season, you either move Hall or you move Deric. Reaching the point where you can't keep sitting on Deric as a back-up. I'd move Hall as it clears out a lot of cap space.
Even the sunshine police can't deny how bad we are. Even the sunshine police cant continue to blame external factors for our losses: the ref, World Cup callups, injuries, the weather, the pitch, etc, etc. I am no longer concerned about this season, but I'm very scared about next year and the one after. We will continue to be a MEDIOCRE team for the years to come. If we continue to make it into the playoffs, the Dynamo organization will do NOTHING. If we continue to buy season tickets, the Dynamo organization will do NOTHING. If the owners don't open their wallets, I won't open mine next year either. I will continue to attend the games when I'm in town, but I'll buy single tickets discounted tickets that others can't sell. I am very afraid that this will continue year after year from now on. The team that wont championships is a team we inherited from San Jose, but those players are now retired and buying good players takes time and money that we are not willing to spend. Prediction for the rest of the year: We will find a half-a-season rental player in the summer, perhaps one from England or Scotland, perhaps a semi-DP one, one who may actually help improve our performance. We will also bring some hand-me-down players from other teams, a player with known injuries who may play a couple of games and then spend the rest of the season injured. We may actually make it into the playoffs. The sunshine police will reappear and will remind us of the two championship, how many times we have played in the MLS cup final, the glorious years, blah, blah, blah. We will continue to buy season tickets, and we will be in the same shape next year, and the next.
Like I said over in the PBP MLS thread, I could see us squeaking in the playoffs and that's only because of how terrible the East is doing so far this year if it stays the course. Looks like we are taking a page out of the NBA this season.
I didn't-in fact I thought we could have got Espindola for him. But now he's at DC and NY seems to be settled on Robles.
I thought Lopez did OK for the short time he had in. Other bright spots were Carrasco and Omar's passing and Omar's ability to create shooting opportunities off the dribble (I don't see anyone else able to do this when 'faced up' except Boniek, Brad and Barnes). JJ is NOT a midfielder and his confidence is shot. Either play him at forward or let him go. Too much reliance on getting outside backs to overlap up and cross th ball in. I see fatigue and frustration in Kofi and Corey. We really need a target forward to play the way Sherrod played the position. Strong in the air with enough pace and strength to hold off central defenders from taking away possession. Someone that can tke it in the box and score. We haven't had a true threat at AM since DeRo. We need to at least move Barnes back there and get a true target forward for the top.
