Notice the "?" at the end of the Italian sentence? It means the same thing there as it does here. They are speculating that he could leave for "the American Dream" in Orlando. Right now, I give it no more credibility than when George Weah was spotted in public wearing a Yankees hat, which was "proof" that he was going to sign for the Metro-Slugs at any moment now....
OK, yet another team jumping ahead of us. I bet they play their first game in the new stadium before we even break ground on ours.
That sucks. Best wishes on a full, speedy recovery. Maybe he'll come play in our HS alumni game as part of his rehab.
The Western Conference provided with the Revs a lot of help in the standings this week: Portland 2-1 NYRB Colorado 4-1 Montreal LA 4-1 Philadelphia San Jose 3-0 Houston Landon finally picked up Goal #135 (and #136)! last night.
You had to believe that he would have a f***U outing last night I'm not sure the world has seen the last chapter of the Landon in Brazil saga yet.
SKC hosts RBNY in a game with some implications for the Revs. Have to hope for a tie here, or a RBNY win I suppose. Don't want SKC to win, that's for sure.
He would have been better off getting fired up last week. Game's on one of the spanish language channels. What's the over/under on Petke's future? Now that Benny's gotten himself off the hot seat, Petke might be the running favorite (there are teams doing worse, but I can't imagine this is what RB ownership is looking for).
I don't blame Petke for NYRB's problems, as much as really poor roster construction. The Red Bulls are almost entirely dependent on three highly paid, aging stars: Thierry Henry (36), Tim Cahill (34), and Jamison Olave (33). Beyond those guys, for depth there's Dax McCarty, Lloyd Sam, and a mixture of mediocrity (or worse) and Academy kids. It's the most top-heavy, zero-depth roster in MLS so it's not a surprise that when those guys aren't around the team is a disaster. Unless the team immediately restocks with three brand-new, elite DPs once Henry and Cahill retire NY is going to be in the MLS basement for a few years.
There's a post out there that they're already looking to figure out who they're bringing in for a DP this summer.
At least there won't be 18 innings of softball or 5 OT's in college basketball before the US game tonight
There's more to the story. SKC looked awful at home. NYRB looked a little shapeless and every-man-for-himself, but had much more energy. Without Besler and Zusi to help SKC hold possession, the Wiz launch the ball to the fast forward thing looked pointless. If that game was any indication, they'll be lucky to make the playoffs.
That first half was pretty much all SKC. They really could have had three goals in the first 5-6 minutes of that game.
Yes, I watched the game hoping for a NYRB win but the tie was the next thing I was hoping for if not a win. PS: Those yellow shorts on the RB's are really cool looking.
CCL Draw was last night. MLS Teams: Group 2: SKC, Saprissa (Costa Rica), Real Esteli (Nicaragua) Group 3: RBNY, Canadian Cup winner, Club Deportivo FAS (El Sal) Group 4: DC United, Tauro (Panama), Waterhouse FC (Jamaica) Group 5: Portland, Olimpia (Honduras), Alpha United (Guyana)
Meanwhile, David Villa and Lampard loom large for NYCFC. But what would the Revs do with any players of that level of capability, and cost? Answer: Mark them. If Revs don't even have anyone that can crack the USMNT roster for the WC, never mind a big-name global star DP, then all the 5-goal wins in the world won't even amount to a blip on radar screen of the public's awareness. C'mon Revs, enough already. Stop telling yourselves those pretty little lies. Time to step up to the big boy table. Help yourselves - get a player who can make a difference and is truly globally recognized and heavily marketable.
