I LOVE IT!!!!!! (Screaming from a mountaintop). Klinsi didn't just stick his neck out, but slammed his balls onto the table. What better WC to infuse the young talent into the future USMNT teams. He hedged big time with a short position to boot. It is not favorable for USMNT to advance, but why not allow the next generation players get the big game experience and go from there. Donovan looks out of shape and fitness is everything in Brazil. Klinsi is not afraid to go bold. What better way for a player to get motivated when the manager gets rid of the sacred cow, puts you into the lineup, and put his career on the line. I love it! Fukkin balls!
I am personally happy Donovan was not on the roster. He has never been impressive. He may arguably be one of the best US players, but he was a glory boy and failed to deliver. That is my opinion only. I do not care about any facts about him. He was always full of himself. That prestige is only for the best players in the world and not a player from the US.
There is balls and DUMB. Putting your life savings in chinese penny stock property developer is BALLZZZ, but really DUMB.
So you're saying the best player in the World can't be from the US? If so, that's a pretty ignorant statement.
That's NOT what this is though. Obviously there's a ton of youth on this squad. But then there's Davis and Beckerman. JK would have been more consistent with youth development by dropping those two for Feilhaber and Williams. It's very confusing. It's JK's Mona Lisa of rosters. What message is he trying to send?
Potential doesn't win games now. If Green beat out Davis that's one thing, but I have a hard time thinking that he beats out Landon. He better have shown some crazy sh** in practice
Adu could have been on the 06 team but he messed it up. That's on Adu, but it's sad when you gotta attack Adu when you don't want to admit Flabby Donovan is over the hill and isn't any good any more.
What good does potential do for ones life other than boost their ego. Sorry that Adu was the best example I came up with it.
Adu isn't an example. Green is an elite potential prospect. Adu had great skill but that's was it. I don't see the comparison.
I'm willing to admit I dont even know enough about Green to know if there is a comparison, I've seen youtube highlights and 30 minutes against Mexico. I have no idea who this guy is. I dont watch the German 4th division and I assume 99% of this board doesnt either.
Well, they can see the whole roster (not just the Landycakes-sized hole but the entire thing) and they now know that their coach (and this approach must also have been discussed with the USSF bigwigs) has just waived the white flag of surrender before we ever got to Brazil. What do you expect them to say? Well, we have a kit that looks like the French flag. I guess we're now the French army of international soccer.
Part of me in the back of my mind thinks this, but if he really wanted to go super young and "wavie the white flag" why even keep Jones, Beckerman and Davis? Our only hope is that there is some method to the madness here, and Klinsman sees something that the rest of us dont, that this team can be better without LD than with him.
Not necessarily. Building for the future doesn't mean you drop every guy 30 or older. It just means you take lots of younger guys with you, so they can learn from the experience.
