Having watched SL many times this season and I'm quite surprised they made it this far. This Pope thing has got some legs. He's praying hard.

Why isnt this 90% of the NT!

It doesn't surprise me one bit, this is the usual cry baby excuse. How quickly they forget that in Lanus they couldn't win either, funny how they don't mention the 50 goal opportunities Bolivar couldn't finish. No matter nothing can bring me down right about now.

Yep. We capitalized in Argentina--they didn't. Game over. The better team in the whole series won. Nuff said.

It really feels great now that when people speak about Bolivar, it's not ina the tone that you normally see/hear aboutBolivian clubs being easy wins or underdogs.

We deserve where we are boys, and we've earned respect/fear.

We're one of the 4 best teams in Latin America.

I sure hope Papa Claure takes Bolivar on a US tour at the least plays some friendlies against some MLS squads would be nice.

On a separate note, Izquierdoz (the guy who got the red card by punching our player) lost his head because lack of oxygen. If it wasn't for the altitude he would never have punched anyone.

I hope Edward Zenteno from Wilster is not in the refuerzos list, I'm afraid he may be since Azkargota called him for the NT friendles!

Zenteno is old, slow, and not technically good.

I wonder how much Ferreira went for. My guess is 500k or maybe even a cool mil.

Anyone know how much longer he had left on his contract?

That said--Pedriel will get his chance if Bigoton keeps him aroun.

This is pretty bad news. I mean we can find another forward, but another one who could play lone foreward like ferriera? Thats going to be tough. Idiot dirigentes should have made it priority to keep the backbone players and make sure to keep them before vacation. sadly they were all due for negotiations.

Why are they not buying eguinos pass is beyond me. They could then sell the player if the offers come in.that guy has incredible upside right now. Im starting to think something fishy is going on. Why not spend the cash to keep these players and build the bolivar brand through excellence .

The tough thing about have a break after the WC is how is the team going to get in shape. There is no question that Portugal did a great job in making these players match fit.

At the end of the day--it's a business.

This is the last time they'll be able to make some serious coin on Ferriera. He's 31, is at the end of his career, and maybe has 2 good years left?

Either way, you sell them while they are at their highest point, which is now.

    I don't blame them.

Yeah , its business. And yes it is good for Ferrriera to take it.

but I am going to have to disagree and say that Bolivar are handling this the wrong way. In the long run, Winning or getting to the final of the Libertadores will bring more prestige to the team and Bolivian soccer. That is brand equity. Bolivar officials have decided to wait instead of executing these contract terms for their best players. Sure players are replaceable, but that takes market research and money . That's is something they could have added to the salaries of the current players. it is cheaper to keep a player than to go out and scout for players.

The truth of the matter is that when the investment is worth it, you execute it quick. This is a long brake so many rumors and stipulations can change. There have been many rumors about the players getting a lower cut of prize money. These rumors are not good for players and club handlers and journalism in Bolivia can be pretty destructive.

sure you can say that its business but i think that's a simple explanation and something that hurts club teams. where players no longer have loyalty because of money. we are just enforcing that notion.

Cabrera himself stated that he has not heard from Bolivar and has made it clear that he wants to stay on. If the players are asking for a raise, Well they did just have an excellent run in the Libertadores. With the inflow of fans into the stadium and prize money, there's money to spend. I'm not really interested in Claure's crazy dream of bringing in a euro star if the rest of the team is not at good level.

They better keep Pedriel. It's rediculous how Azkargota doesn't get along with Pedriel and Lizio... We're losing 2 of the best players in Bolivia just because they can't play nice...

Well Ferreira is gonna get 40k a month in Mexico (according to newspapers) compared to what 15k in Boliviar? We can't compete with that realistically... Bolivar only owns 40% of his pass, so it's out of their hands really

These players are some of the best in the league. Lizio came on and nationalized himself but have not seen a full game. These 2 players have not rally gotten a chance to be match fit either. how can you play Alcides Pena over Pedriel? not taking away from Pena. Zenteno? come on!

Agreed. If he did get that kind of money, imagine the locker room with everyone else. He'd be earning 4-5x more than the highest earner.

At teh end of the day...Bolivar isn't at that levle yet where we can pay our players a very high wage.

Realistically Claure could have reached into his pocket...but I am sure Azkargorta wouldn't like that because of the drama it would casue in teh locker room. I think we move forward, make the best out of things nwo and get Pedriel or a good replacement for Ferreira in there.

beleive me, the team spirit is gone. we are talking about the captain of the squad.without this player , Bolivar would not be in libertadores.he was a key and to not discuss any contracts before the break.thats unreal..
you guys can keep guessing figures but believe me there is always room for compromise. Not buying Eguunos pass is a sign of the type of negotiators bolivar has.this is the team I was born to root for so it makes me weary but ill always be a bolivarista.

trust me, with the players azkargorta is playing the bolivian squad..we better have a very good scout and hopefully cesar vento can pull it off.

and hopefully the team spirit continues and players step up.

but now it seems that Neumann is the rumored player.

    Who??? Carlos Neumann?

While I don't disagree with your sentiment and I think our front office could have handled things better....at the end of hte day if a player wants to leave, they leave.

Claure couldn't have offered him much more than he was earning now--because if he did, it would screw everything up. Ferrirea was already our highest paid player. Telling him we were going to give him what, 50k more owuldn't have kept him there. Mexico pays big...and their 500k yearly salary for him is peanuts but essentially 3-4 times what he's earning in Bolivia. Only an idiot would say no just to play for the club of his dreams.

Ferreira isn't a guy who's played in europe and has made a good living. I am sure he's OK now, but if he can get a good contract at his age, with all the kids he has, it only makes sesne to go for the money.

Eguino is good, but if he's wanted in the ukraine, let him go. He's expendable.
