Hi all, I have a reservation for beds for two males, two nights in Recife (6/25-27) at Albergue de Olinda (http://www.alberguedeolinda.com.br/). The gent I'm traveling with has decided that he is hostel averse so I had to scramble for a rezz in a hotel instead. I'm making this reservation available to anyone who wants to pick it up. I've already paid a 50% non-refundable deposit (R$120 or about $54 USD) and the other half is due upon arrival. You're probably not going to find a more reasonable deal. I will ask that, if you pick up the rezz, you PayPal me the $ I spent after your stay in June. PM me for more details or e-mail at hellman.jared@gmail.com. Up the Yanks.
So it seems like the transition to the new airport is imminent and we will have to pay twice as much for a taxi...if there are any when we arrive. http://tribunadonorte.com.br/noticia/mudanca-de-aeroporto-afeta-taxis/281902 More than $76BRL to Ponta Negra, since I will have to make that trip 6 times it really hurts. I wonder if the rental car companies will also move or if they will stay at Severo airport. I still dont understand how they have the guts to transition to a new airport 3 weeks before the first world cup match, when they are expecting more than 50,000 people. Does any local have any other update?
Seems like a police strike in Recife is causing a lot of problems. http://www1.folha.uol.com.br/poder/...s-clima-no-centro-do-recife-e-de-panico.shtml http://oglobo.globo.com/pais/forca-...ambuco-apos-greve-da-policia-militar-12495168 But at least I learned that the words for strikes and looting in Portuguese are greves and saques. Also looks like protesters are starting their tune up for the Cup. http://oglobo.globo.com/pais/protestos-nesta-quinta-colocam-seguranca-da-copa-em-teste-12491066
Okay, so now I'm doing a bit of scrambling... My last day in Natal we will be attending the Japan v Greece match which kicks off at 7pm. I have tickets for the Italy v Costa Rica match the next day in Recife, kickoff at 1pm. So...we need to make our way from Natal to Recife either overnight or very early the next morning. Our plan has always been to rent a car and make the drive early in the morning. However, we couldn't decide for how long to rent the car and now it looks like I waited too long, as there are no more rentals available in Natal. I would be fine taking an overnight bus but I'm learning that advance reservations are not available to foreigners. Will we have success buying tickets a few days before the trip? There are 4 of us in our group. Any tips, suggestions, advice would be immensely appreciated!!! (Also, I'm new to this forum. How do I list my match list at the bottom of my posts as I see in others? Thanks! Adam
Hi Adam I'm in the same boat as you.Don't know how I'm getting to Recife.Ir's a worry.I'm travelling solo from New Zealand.Keep in touch if you want.Cheers
Caledonia84, I am arriving with my mate from England in Recife on 22nd for a week, will be at the Croatia/Mexico game on the 23rd. Will also be going to Italy/Uruguay ( returning after the game) and happy to share transport as has been suggested in other posts. Guess it needs someone to coordinate it (easier said than done!), but happy to help and pay our way. We are staying in Boa Viagem Regards Alan
Hi Alan, We a group of 4 (3 USA and 1 UK) with a very similar travel schedule in Recife as you. Arriving the 22nd, going to Croatia Mexico, and staying in Boa Viagem. We have game tickets for Natal on the 24th for Italy/Uruguay as well but haven't figured out our transport. Let me know if you want to try to coordinate. Anyone have suggestions on how to organize transport for a group from Recife to Natal on the 24th?
Hey guys! Would anyone be interested joining/creating a facebook group? "Bigsoccer Recife travel fans" or something like that.. We can all keep in contact and share our experiences..
ddv33, With your 4 , Caledonia84 (3) and my 2 that is 9. There is a guy klopez41 on the previous page who is arranging transport from Recife to Natal on the 16th and provides an idea of itinerary and costs, so he must be touch with somebody/company. How does the PM system work on here??. or can you ddv33 PM him to find out who he is using. Klopez41 if your out there can you help??
i second that www.facebook.com/clubamericalara is my link... please add me as well since my privacy setting are fairly high but i think with the listed link it shouldnt be a problem.
ddv33, Caledonia84, & Alan: there are three in my party also attending Mexico/Croatia in Recife and Italy/Uruguay in Natal. We have yet to sort out how we're getting to Natal. We were thinking the overnight bus that leaves at 11:30 pm on June 23 but would be open to looking at other options!
Barging_in, I guess there are going to be a lot of in the same boat. Personally an overnight bus does not hold a lot of appeal to me ( and probably not you!) Leaving Recife around 6/7 am on match day sounds more appealing. The bus terminal is miles out of the city so some form of transport from the Recife City/Boa Viagem area would be preferable. Just hoping someone will pick this up an give us a starting point. I don t mind trying to co ordinate something. The person we are staying with in Recife is local and I could start a dialogue with them next week. Alan
yall should get together on hiring a minibus. Or someone could rent a van for the day if you're not driving averse

Recife/Natal transport 24th June....... not sure if could have a tread of its own?? Any thoughts? Anyway, the main bus company operating out of Recife and responsible for the regular run to Natal seems to be Progresso. I have emailed them (using google translate) asking them a series of the obvious questions that you might want answers to , so will wait to get a response (or not). Alan
Any advice on how we go about reserving a mini bus? Requested to join the facebook group, I agree leaving early AM sounds more appealing than overnight bus.
a quick google search in portuguese give me this: http://www.mouravans.com.br/ http://www.coopertur.com.br/ http://www.locvan.com.br/
sethuel1, Thanks for that. Have emailed the first in the list who appear to provide a van and a man requesting the cost
Alan, Caledonia and I were chatting about this recently. I'm in the same boat with a couple of friends that need to make that early morning trip to Natal. We're supposed to be staying the night there but could still pay for the return journey. Let me know if you get anywhere. I have a Brazilian friend in LA that I was goings to have look into this. I'll let you what I find out.
Alan Good man on taking the time to send a couple of enquiries. Looks like there could be a fair few of us. Bus timings are just not practical so let me know if you need me to help with anything once you get some replies
